I tried the Cello Hand Select Copper Kettle Parmesan cheese at Costco.
Not nice. I have a pretty catholic taste in cheese, but this one has
something distinctly odd about it. Nothing reminiscent of parm at
all. You get what you pay for -- $6.29#

I buy mostly from an Italian sm. For grating over hot food, I buy the
cheaper Grana Padano but for scraping over a salad, or for eating straight,
it has to be Parmigiano Reggiano. The premium is worth it IMO.

I once bought some locally made parmesan cheese. It was a lot cheaper
than the real stuff. It probably compared favourably to the Kraft crap
in a can, but sure wasn't a viable alternative to real parm.

I was curious. I didn't expect a lot but I did figure there would be
a hint of the nutty saltiness.

I bought some of the 3 year old parm two weeks ago. I saw the version you
mentioned, and it just didn't sit right with me. Guess you just confirmed
my suspicion. Was it even Italian?

No. There may have been an Italian in New Jersey in the crew that
made it. I was truly curious. Many times I think 'how bad could it
be?' I will try the Kirkland branded Manchego cheese next.

Any Kirkland brand stuff I've bought has been good, including wine.

I agree. I just didn't care for this cheese.
