Sorry Martha but banging the head of garlic around in two metal bowls simply
did not work. It did create an extreme amount of racket leading someone to scream a lot and say that he was not eating it. It did however at least take off the majority of the papery stuff and partially separate the cloves. Perhaps had I kept at it, it would have worked but it was beginning to tire me out. What worked like a dream though was the garlic peeler. It's like a flexible sleeve. Just put the cloves in one at a time and rub. Peel comes right off. So total time for all 3 cloves was perhaps 10 minutes, if that. Would have taken me a lot longer to do this by hand. |

The pasta recipe calls for two heads. The soup calls for three cloves. I kept thinking in my mind that I must remove 3 cloves. I think I will just put all of the other garlic in with the pasta. Although the garlic looked perfectly fine on the outside there was one mushy clove and some were very tiny. There was a whole lot of papery stuff in there in relation to the amount of garlic. I should probably just stop buying produce at that store. *sigh* |

What you need is someone to teach you how to cook. Good Lord, you should have learned by now...you've been at it for thirty years or more. === |

It's the same one where I got the fennel that was old and almost all fronds. Quite often the produce is visibly not good. The garlic looked fine but the day after I got it home, one bulb grew a long green shoot. I didn't use that one. I bought another. But it too was growing inside. |

Nope. He is eating it, I think. Not sure. At least I put the plate down. No feedback so don't know if it is good or not. |

I didn't bother to make rolls. Have been trying to reach my mom. I realized after she said she hadn't grocery shopped and wanted me to pick stuff up for her that she probably had no Christmas dinner so... Am going to offer to bring food over since ours is all cooked already and there is extra. I know she would like the salad but am not sure about the other stuff. Guess I could do a small batch of mac and cheese to take as well, just in case. Alas my tastes are not that of my extended family. I love beans, onions, peppers and tomatoes and they do not. |
