I can't remember the particulars of the first one. Although I do think the
holes were such that when I used it for spaghetti, the spaghetti was thin
enough to slip out as it drained. And you had to cook the pasta with the
lid on so you couldn't tell when it was done. I don't think you could remove
the lid as it cooked.I tried to use it a couple of times and it rusted.

When I complained of this to someone, they misunderstood and thought I
wanted a second one. This was one of those As Seen On TV products and they
claimed to have improved it. So I tried the new one. The lid got stuck on
it. As in could not be removed unless perhaps I had some sort or power tool
that I did not own. Plus it was a crappy pot. Not really big enough IMO
for a pasta pot and made of really thin material. I had no trouble lifting
it while full. Just getting the lid off.

Now there could be others that are different. But this was a design I did
not like.

Oh no! The ribbed Sur la Table towels were the only absorbent ones that
I found a few years ago. Of course, I didn't want to spend the money to
get more, and now you say this. :-(
