I like the cat talk. There is a cat NG but nobody posts to it.

I'll bet my cat could kick your ferret's ass! There. How's that for drama?

I sent an email to the General Manager. First I suggested they hold
"server meetings" on days when they are closed. When I worked in
restaurants the meetings weren't held during business hours with
customers within earshot. Secondly, I pointed out anyone with half a
brain can tell the difference between cod and salmon so try not to be so
blatant. If you want to charge $24 for cod, charge $24 for it. Don't
try to pretend it's salmon. I don't know if I'll get a reply.

Jill

I think I would have kept quiet about this. You have just given them a way
to keep information secret. It could be to your advantage if you could
overhear some of their info, if this is typical.

LOL. I love cauliflower but I don't "get" substituting it for anything.
I'm not afraid of potatoes, rice or other carbohydrates.

Jill

~~~~~~~~
I have diabetes, and white potatoes will send my BG skyrocketing. On the
other hand, I could eat cauliflower all day long without having any ill
effects (assuming it is not "doctored up" with something I should avoid).
Fortunately, I like cauliflower.
I got a convoluted reply back:
"I am sorry that you overheard the server meeting. They conduct a 5
minute lineup pre-shift to ensure that every one is in the correct
uniform, knows the daily specials, special instructions etc. We hold
these before lunch and between lunch and dinner service.
The difference in prices that you noted are differences in the smaller
tapas portions versus full size entrée portions. The $12 is a tapas
price and is a popular option with many of our members. We are unable
to find what the salmon prep reference was about. Most likely it was
that the special was salmon but many of our members like to substitute cod."
Uh huh. That's not what I overheard. Further:
"I am sorry to hear of your takeout order. It can be very frustrating
to get home and find missing items from your order. No one should be
making light of an occurrence like you mention. I have discussed this
with the staff."
I don't really think they care. They're just giving me lip-service.
I'm very vocal and they don't like it. I think a lot of people put up
with their crap without saying anything. That's not me. From now on,
I'll be checking my to-go orders before I leave the premises. It would
help if they didn't tie the bag [they put the container in] into knots
that require scizzors to get open!
If a health condition prohibits or limits things like potatoes it's
perfectly reasonable to avoid them. It seems *some* people do the
low-carb thing not for health reasons but because it's trendy. These
same people jump on every newfangled food fad and "diet" there is.
I love cauliflower. I still wouldn't use it in place of potatoes. Then
again, I don't eat potatoes with every meal.
That's true. My diet is not really low-carb, although it is much "lower"
carb than in the days before I was diagnosed with diabetes. I eat a lot of
what South Beach calls "good carbs," and it definitely shows on my meter. I
have been successful in keeping my BG under control since 2004.
