Default Here is the last word for today (I HOPE)

First it's gourmet burgers made to order by machines - now
*bartenders* need to wear gloves? When will the insanity stop?

Reminds me of the time we went to a local food festival and (of course)
there was a 'booze tent' which was well patronized. Anyway, while I was
waiting for my turn to be served, I heard a woman moaning loudly about
seeing one of the bartenders 'touching the ice with his bare hands'. She
made quite a scene and wanted to know why the bartender in question wasn't
using ice tongs - or wearing gloves while filling up the ice buckets. She
refused to pay for her drink (which had already been poured), left it on
the bar counter and stomped off... There was a few moments of stunned
silence - and then somebody laughed and said, "Oh well, more ice for me
then!" <g>

FWIW, all the various food stall cooks/servers were wearing gloves, but I
don't think the 'glove law' officially extends to bartenders here - yet.

"the state has agreed for a soft enforcement period in the first half
of the year."

I know of three bars in Orange County where I can go and *assume* there
will be somebody sitting inside smoking a cigarette. this is going to
bhe the "softest enforcement" of such laws as we're likely to see.

I just hope the fines are $5 or less per infraction. Calculated times
being inspected once a year, it should work out okay.
