I needed your encouragement. I'm mostly bald on the sides. I'll have my stylist cut my hair on Tuesday so it looks neater and less like an old guy whose comb-over fell down :-). I did order some powder from QVC that colors your scalp so your hair doesn't look so thin. I do have a wig, but it's not at all comfortable. I see the people I want to see as much as I choose throughout the year and don't consider the holidays a time when it's okay for anyone to drop by without calling ahead. Maybe I'd have a different attitude if I lived in close quarters like a condo or apartment building where people are screened at the door, but I don't and I won't answer the door unless I'm expecting a caller. Too many strangers knock on the door in the name of some fictional cause to have a sudden change of attitude during the holiday season. -- Avoid cutting yourself when slicing vegetables by getting someone else to hold them. |

I have a can of wasp spray right near my front door, just in case of emergency. I also can hit the panic button on my alarm if I'm frightened. During the winter, when a lot of my friends come down for the season, it's not unusual for someone to just stop by and ring the bell. If I know them, I let them in. I always have a jug of homemade ice tea and one of chilled, filtered water in the fridge, so I can offer them a beverage. My house is out in the boonies and I have no neighbors, so I am very careful. I will not open the door for anyone but the UPS, FedEx man or the postman and the lawn service guy if he needs me for something. -- From somewhere very deep in the heart of Texas |
