No Super Bowl party here, hoping the game won't even be turned on. Your method sounds fine, but I've never made super nachos, mainly because I don't like all that stuff on my nachos -- however, I've never been enamored with "stuffed" potatoes, so it figures. I have some chicken that needs to be used for something and was thinking about making tortilla soup. > > Keep your plans flexible though. Apparently it's only second to Thanksgiving in food prepared and eaten so it takes planning if you're having a crowd. I love Super Bowl, but we watch by ourselves now so we can actually follow the game and we just have finger foods. Cheri |

I said I would be reading a book? I don't think so. I rarely read books at home. I reserve those for when I am out and have to wait somewhere. I don't have an old man. I have a husband who loves football and anything about football. He also likes it when we use the goal post picks on his sandwiches. Paper plates are not garbage. We like them! I don't have to justify anything I buy to you or anyone else here! Have you factored in the cost of dish soap and hot water? In many cases, paper plates are cheaper. And these were from Costco so hella cheap. So our house needs a new roof! Unless you have a metal one on your house, then I presume at some point, you will need one too. So? And things do break! Are you saying that nothing ever breaks in *your* house? This house was poorly constructed. We did not know this when we bought it and although it would have affected *my* decision to buy, nothing could have swayed my husband at the time. I did not want to buy a house at all and would still prefer not to own one. But that's neither here nor there, is it. Things that have happened in the past.... Husband was unemployed after retiring from the military. And the VA owed us money. The monthly payments have been coming now since Sept. But they still owe us a big chunk o'change. Again that's neither here nor there and I have given up holding my breath on that. If we get it, fine. If we don't, no skin off my nose. It's not *my* money and not my fight to fight. Bottom line? Husband is employed now and has a very good job with lots of perks. So whatever was in the past, was in the past. That was then, this is now. And I suspect by the time we do get the new roof (after the weather warms up because that's the best time to put on a roof), we will have even more money not only from saving it but also getting our income tax back which I presume will be less than last year because we will have to pay to NY for 2013. He was not living there long enough to have to pay for 2012. Not that any of this is any of your business. It's not. As for buying this stuff all the time, yeah! I do. I also buy it when it is marked down to something like 90% off. And not just paper goods. But soap and other things too. I have some liquid soap in the garage with an Easter design on the bottle. I paid 30 cents for it. Some people might not want an Easter design when it's not Easter but I don't care. I also don't care if we are using Halloween or Christmas napkins and paper towels off season. Granted I don't always find these bargains but I often do. That's what I do! Look for bargains. And I know where to find them. I also have seasonal nail files and lip balms. You can do what you want to with your money. And I can do what I want to. You might choose to take a vacation. That's one thing you won't ever see me spending *my* money on. Not in the near future anyway because those things are torture to me and I'd just rather not go places like that. A day trip perhaps. But hope never ever to go on a plane again and wouldn't take a cruise if I was paid to do so. Unless it was just a local little cruise. I will spend my money on dance shows/concerts/recitals/whatever you want to call them. That to me is a pleasant time. |

I prefer the Watkins Grapefruit soap. Can't find it for a good price and don't want to get it shipped any more so am looking for an alternative. found some sort of green brand at Central Market but haven't tried it yet. Do have a dishwasher but just prefer to wash by hand as I go. Now if I were ever to prepare some sort of huge meal and dirty a lot of dishes at once, I would likely use it. Seems I do use it perhaps 2-3 times a year. My breakfast is almost always toast. Seems perfectly silly to dirty a plate for that so I use those little, super thin, uncoated paper plates. I try to buy them when I find them on sale. We also rarely all eat at one time. Often, the other two are getting their own meal or snack and if they use a regular plate or bowl, chances of it getting put back in the kitchen and rinsed by them is nil. I'll then find the thing sometime later with crusty food on it. Unacceptable to me! So for that reason alone, paper is better. Also, husband was cooking eggs in the microwave with no fat. I didn't know this would happen but if you do this in Corelle, the eggs weld onto the dish and it takes forever to scrub them off. That is when I insisted he use paper bowls to cook them it. We didn't used to use paper all the time but... We would have lot after having to use it on cross country moves and once we got our housing and until our household goods arrived. I know some people who make such moves with a complete set of kitchen items just for the move. I don't know how they do this as we barely had enough room in the van for the possessions we did take with us. So eating off of paper did not bother us. I also don't have a place to store all sorts of seasonal dishes. I know people who have their Valentine's dishes, Easter dishes, Christmas dishes, etc. We like festive things so paper works well then too. |

I've never had a dishwasher smell bad. This one is fairly new. Can't remember exactly when I got it. Perhaps 4-6 years ago? It's not like anything is getting in there between uses and it's all clean in there. So... ? |

There will always be food particles in the drain. Also, because the gaskets tend to dry out if the dishwasher isn't used, you can have a problem with leaking. We make sure we run ours at least 3 times a week. Doris |

Because my manual (GE) says there should be a small amount of water left after the cycle completes, and if I didn't run it for a long time, it would smell. I was wondering how yours doesn't. Cheri |

I was wondering how yours doesn't. Weird. I have a GE and so long as I use the heated dry which I always do, it's dry as a bone in there after it runs. I just checked mine a few nights ago to make sure there weren't any dishes in there. There was a butter knife. But it smelled just fine! |

Why did you spend hundreds of dollars for an appliance that only gets used 2-3 times a year? You sure are a wasteful person. |
