Default Can you smell when things are done?

I can't tell with everything but I can with most cookies, particularly if
they contain butter. Also baked or boiled potatoes, beans and most breads.

You?

I can smell everything once it starts to cook

Of course I can do that. But I can tell just by the smell when these things
are done cooking or baking.

Some things, certainly - for example when we cook fish wrapped in
aluminium foil on the outdoor grill, or as you say when my daughter bakes
cookies or cupcakes - but plain baked/boiled potatoes or green beans don't
give off much of a smell once done (at least not that I've noticed). But
then you probably have a better sense of smell than I do...

Yes, but just baked goods. If they smell done, I better go check
whether the timer has beeped or not. (and I set the timer a couple of
minutes fast)

No, just in a playful mood this morning. I'm trying to get all the fun I
can in today, before bad weather sets in - 6" of snow forecast for this
afternoon and evening.

I used to think that my wife used the smoke detector for a kitchen
timer. I often go by the smell, especially when baking. I use a timer,
but I also go by appearance and smell.

Very likely to still be online, unless there is a power failure - unlikely
with just snow, it usually takes a pretty bad ice or windstorm to take down
the power.

The flying snow has put me in the mood for chicken noodle soup and grilled
cheese for lunch - maybe a little steamed broccoli too.

Not sure I could tell with green beans. Hmmm... Seems just to be starchy
things that I know.

I heard tell of snow here but we haven't seen any. Record breaking cold
though.
