Default What happened to Rachael Ray's voice?

That woman has always annoyed me. First, she and I do not seem to have the
same taste in foods. But her bubbly persona is what I really didn't care
for. However...

In recent times, she comes across as far less bubbly and her voice sounds
strained. To the point where it is difficult to listen to her. Almost like
the result of GERD or something. Makes me want to clear her throat for her.

I fell asleep on the couch early this morning and awoke to a bubbly sounding
Rachael. Apparently not much is on in the morning so I put it on the
Cooking Channel which I rarely watch. Looked at the TV and...whoa! That
gal sure has put on some weight! I knew she had gained but she looked far
smaller when this show was filmed and was much more bubbly. It's almost as
if the life has been at least partially sucked out of her and she just isn't
into the cooking any more. I am watching her again now on a recent show.
Big difference!

Was she sick with something? Anyone know?

I've been thinking for a long while now that she is having trouble coping with the pressure of what she's doing.

One can only run at that high a level of metabolism before something
starts to wear out!

RR always reminded me of someone who drank too many espressos.

Ha! That could be. She did say once that all she ever gets to eat are the
bites you see on the show.

I don't watch her very often or very long when I do, but you're right,
she seemed tired when I saw her a few days... but her voice doesn't
sound like it did when she had nodules on her vocal chords.

Maybe she's getting those nodes again.

She's middle aged and doesn't have an eating disorder, so she's aging
like a normal female. Her thyroid is probably not in the best
condition and her metabolism is slowing down due to her hormones being
out of whack (stress only adds to the mess), so she's gaining weight
in spite of having a private trainer. I'm glad she's keeping it
real, but I really feel for her.

She seems to have led a very stressful life as of late. Didn't she have some big time marital problems as well as running all of her shows and her magazine?

She has a fairly long history of medical problems related to her voice;
including a benign cyst that was removed from her vocal chords.

Have you ever listened to the Diane Rehm show, on NPR? My uncle recommended
her, for her guests and topics, but man her voice is scratchy. (She's located
in DC if I remember right.)

Thanks! I looked it up after sf mentioned it. Apparently she delayed
surgery for some time hoping to cure it by other means. Didn't work.

Is Rachael suffering from cysts on her vocal cords again ? Its not easy to watch her show as she strains to speak. Actually its annoying to listen to her as her voice breaking up.

I am sipping on a cup of coffee and watching Rachael Ray. I saw a very
strange but well known gesture among truth movement researchers which is
famously known as the Baphomet. It was really over the top the way she
did it.

She was wearing a necklace with a pendant which appears to have horns.
I am not sure about the necklace at all because there was never a close
up of it. I have a theory if you make it to prime-time television you
are part of the the elite’s programming network. It is much like the
Hollywood casting couch but these days it is more like “Eyes Wide Shut.”
This I can confirm because I have close friends who attended Hollywood
parties where this exact behavior was rampant.

She has spasmodic dysphonia, and gets botox shots in the throat. They have
fill in hosts when she is getting voice treatments. I rather dislike Steve
Roberts. I don't even know why, I just do.

Thanks, Dave. Thanks a whole helluva ****ing lot. The image of "Tubby in

God, that's even more of a turn-off than thinking about RR's filthy

Oh, poor thing! I don't watch her daily show, so I don't keep up with
what is happening with her voice. I thought she had growths on her
vocal chords removed years ago and she was fine.

Honestly, I had no idea she needed someone fill in due to medical
issues. Speaking of replacements, I don't like the guy who took Regis
Philbin's spot. Not that I watched Regis and Kelly with any
regularity, but Michael Strahan is totally annoying. Can't stand
that man.

I rarely ever saw the show to begin with but I saw a few minutes of the new
guy and didn't care for him.

Holy crap, I can't watch that show which is a bummer because
I love Michael Strahan.

Unfortunately I cannot stand Kelly. Rude, interrupting
and shrill. Ugh.

Ha! That's the way I think of him. + he thinks he's being cute.
Ugh. Between people like you and people like me, it's a wonder that
show is still on.

I like Michael a lot more than Kelly, too.

I'm sure she's a nice enough person, but I can't take how
she talks over everyone and tries to one up everyone by beating
them to the punch of their story.

It was funny when, early in her tenure on the show, someone sent
a fax that said Kelly, SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP. Didn't work.
