They don't let them have alcoholic beverages. I think at one time they
did... a couple of bottles of beer, at least.

I should rephrase that. Glass bottles would be a no-no. Cans, sans
sharp pull-tabs. We wouldn't want someone to break a bottle and cut
their own throat or slash their wrists before we could kill them.

Oh, I'm sure they'd allow me (as a death row inmate) access to the
kitchen with all sorts of sharp implements.

There was an article showing last meals before criminals were bumped off:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...residents.html

DH opted for sausage, egg, chips and baked beans with good bread and butter
and a glass of malt.

I don't know that I have a favourite food. I like a lot of things but
none excusively.

What would you choose?

I don't know how much a fifth is, but I reckon I might ask for a bottle of
gin and one of tonic. Ice would be nice too ;-)

Nope... I'm sure there are newbies who have probably never heard us talk
about it before. Besides, it's been a few years.

These might not go together, but here goes:

.. A thick rare tenderloin steak drowning in a pat of melting butter
.. Mashed potatoes made with butter and cream
.. Creamed spinach with lots of Parmesan cheese
.. A few slices of buttered baguette
.. Coconut cream pie
.. 2 pina coladas
.. a bottle of good Champagne

Heh it would go together for me for a last meal although I might choose a
different pudding. Some kind of pie with ice cream I think

I had never heard of putting butter on a finished steak before until
several people in this newsgroup have mentioned it before. I would
maybe try that sometime, but I'd sure hate to ruin a good medium-rare
ribeye if it turned out that I didn't like it. %-0

Ha! A pie is a good thought. The few times someone made me a homemade
apple pie (with homemade crust) for my birthday, I skipped all other
foods and ate pie for lunch, pie for dinner, and pie for dessert. 24
hours is the max life for a good apple pie here.

(and that's why I rarely make one myself)

I wouldn't put butter on a ribeye, or on a highly marbled steak.
I'm grilling a sirloin today, and it will be getting buttered.
