Default Totally OT - happy me

My nephew called me this morning with some great news. He's buying 15
acreas with a small house on it out near where we like to camp/swim/hike.
etc. It's got a little creek running through the middle of it, and a few
outbuildings including a woodworking shop. My first woodworking project is
going to be building my great niece a bed from wood cut by me from trees.
This is the next best thing to owning it ourselves.

http://www.marismatrix.com/Matrix/Pu...d=3&mtid=1&L=1
&key=33389376&n=32&i=9&View=Y

The water in the little stream is from undeveloped National Forest land,
and is essentially drinking water quality (after boiling). The past 3
Summers have sucked for camping because both my nephew and my wife's cousin
(our old camping buddies) have had babies, and while we were bringing our
son out there when he was half a year old, their children didn't travel
well. Looks like the camping drought is ending.

This is how we eat out in the woods--

That peanut oil in the cast iron skillet on the Coleman stove looks so
close to catching fire...

Soon after that photo was taken, the guy who was cooking the fish, my
nephew who just bought the land and I (3 of The Bonobos) were running
around the fire and there was a piece of concrete that somehow I caught my
leg on and the profusion of blood was almost amazing. I was really drunk,
and I put paper towels over the gash and dumped 91% isopropyl alcohol on it
to sanitize it. I don't even know if that was wise, but I was too drunk
and in pain to think straight, and the alcohol added pain on top of pain.

I guess it was the polite thing to do because it certainly rendered my
blood harmless to others. I mean, I know that I'm HIV and Hep negative,
but blood scares folks. It's funny that this happened just across the
creek from the place that three of us did half eyedroppers full of Pure Cap
a few years earlier. That was even more painful. Both led to enormous
endorphin highs.

Hey, it occurred to me that your painkiller problem could be solved by
cultivating poppies. You do live so far out in the wilderness that the
government would never notice. I love living where I do, and wouldn't want
to reside in the middle of nowhere, but I love spending time away from
civilization.

Pure cap? Is that mushrooms?

LOL, I can get all the pharmaceutical grade poppies I want by pulling
off the road, climbing a farm fence and taking all I want (just don't
get caught though)... Tasmania is the world's biggest producer of
opium alkaloids But I'll give it a miss thanks, as I have no desire
to develop an addiction. I'll stick to high grade cannabis.

No worries. A few hours in 'civilisation' does me fine...

Are you assuming that my having worked for a church for 20 years means I'm
a Christian? I'm way more like the Pagans that the Yahweh folks were
always killing. If I had to pick a diety to worship--and of course, I
don't--it'd be one more along the lines of Inanna.
I'm a hedonist who almost worships *lady parts*, and to a lesser degree,
food. I like beer too. That said, I am rather ecumenical toward other
ecumenicals of any belief system. Winter's girlfriend is Christian, and
sometimes attends Quaker Meeting.

Sounds wonderful. Incidentally, I was a waterfront counselor at several
camps (one private camp plus several Girl Scout camps) *many* years ago. It
looks like you eat much better on your camping trips than we did!

That reminds me of a camp where my wife's family likes to go.
http://www.ymcastlouis.org/metropoli...-camp-lakewood

It is quite expensive, and includes meals, but the food was so awful
that I ended up leaving after less than 24 hours, and they refunded my
portion of the fees. I swear, they had *burger* patties in a chafing
dish in what I called, "Hamburger au jus." The best thing on the entire
*buffet* was fish sticks. I told the manager that I couldn't see paying
to stay at a place where the meals were so awful.

On a totally different topic, we got some spectacular deals on shoes
today. I love DSW's clearance section.
http://www.dsw.com/dsw_shoes/promoti...p?key=banner21
&cm_re=HPFlash-_-Offer-_-TierDetails

You ladies will be amazed at these deals. The following are prices
after all discounts but before taxes:

2 pairs of these, one brown, one black @ $12.70 each--
http://www.shoebuy.com/hush-puppies-...18177/1270382?
cm_mmc=googleproductads_pla-_-none-_-none-_-none

These for $8.48--
http://www.zappos.com/adrienne-vitta...-black-patent?
ef_id=UwZBCwAABGD0Ice0:20140413201614:s

And these for $18.01--

&scid=pla_google_ApparelSave&adid=18161&gclid=CJav hsSk3r0CFZJj7AodR18AZg

Plus, I got a pair of these for myself, $4.23 in women's 11/12--
http://www.dearfoams.com/event/catal.../SWEATER-KNIT-
CLOG/categoryCode/NEW

All of those shoes for $55.52. The sale ends today. I love saving
money.

Not entirely mad for pain relief. In fact casacin is used in pain
relief topical anaethetic ontments, and I saw some research (???)
recently theorizinfg that people's "addiction" to eating hot peppery
foods may be related to evidence that ingesting capsaicin actually
stimulated the body's natural endorphons as a redspomnse to perceived
pain, even though no actual pain-producing trauma occurs. Could be!

I do know this! Hot peppers are YUMMY!! Call me an addict!

If not my church job--which is a well know thing here--then why did
Christians come into the thread?

You'll have to excuse Bryan. He very likely has Narcisstic Personality
Disorder, and one of the featires if you will of this disorder is, as
this Mayo clinic site says:

Narcissistic personality disorder is a mental disorder in which people
have an inflated sense of their own importance and a deep need for
admiration. Those with narcissistic personality disorder believe that
they're superior to others and have little regard for other people's
feelings. But behind this mask of ultra-confidence lies a fragile
self-esteem, vulnerable to the slightest criticism.

http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-c...n/con-20025568

Note Bryan's immediate defensive posture when he mistakenly though you
were assusing himn of being a Christian, just because of his "having
worked for a church for 20 years", whuixch at face vale appears rto be
a very admirable vocation, until you realise he's "just" a janitor.

Please get treatment Bryan, it can do you and those around you a LOT
of good.

PS: I started taking 50mg Seroquil HS (bedtime) last Fri, and I was
amazed at how quickly and effectively it has worked for me!! And only
a tad more than $10 for a 90 day supply! 90 pills! I'm still me, just
not far too much and an uncontrollable intensity of me, which is how
uncontrolled Bipolar Disorder felt to me! And I am damn glad! Now
manye I can get some good and necessary things done! Or at least
underway.

I don't believe however that Seroquel is indicated for Narcisstic
Personality Disorder. You will have to get a licensed psychiatric
specialst's advice for that. The Mayo site says "Narcissistic
personality disorder treatment is centered around psychotherapy" and I
know as soon as you read that your defensive shields flew up! Drop 'em
please and see help!

Could it not be said that anyopne posting (particular top level
original posts) be said to have some degree of Narcuistgic Personality
Disorder? Particularly people (not bots!) who make repeated,
proliferately even ubiquitous posts, on or off topic? (You know who
YOU are! ;-))

Me? Goodie 2 shoe? John can tell you about all of the LSD we used back
in the day. He wasn't so good at handling his acid.

Pure Cap is good stuff when used correctly. It adds heat w/o altering
flavor.

Not even funny, Bryan. I just found out that my SIL committed suicide
about 10 days ago. It's sad when someone feels like they have no hope
left and does such a thing. They are at peace, thankfully, but it
still leaves all the family freaking out and thinking they might have
had some influence in preventing that "final solution."

How would YOU feel if you came home from work someday and found your
wife or son dead from suicide? It's nothing to joke about. It really
isn't. ;-(

Well, believing in some dubious deity that's represented on earth by a
select few who want to control the rest of the world's
population through fear and guilt... seems to me your mind wouldn't
need any 'enhancement' by drugs if you buy into all that stuff.

He's a member of the RFC "family" and I read and respect what everyone
here has to say. I find the good in everyone and try to ignore the bad
parts. I do click away the obvious trolls though. Thankfully, they are
rare.

I know you do but when you see that someone is hurting you ...

I am so sorry about your SIL.

I think that we have to come to terms with the fact that there are some
people here who are so sick and twisted that they posts are not worth
reading. That is what filters are for. I don't remember what got that
obnoxious ass into my filter, but I was not seeing that side of the
conversation.

Much less *reply* to it! Killfiles don't work when people keep replying
to and thus encouraging nasty troll posts.

That's for sure, and for a lot of the folks here, being liked is priority
#1. It takes precedence over accuracy. Same with being kind. People say
nice things that aren't true. Ophelia is the worst. Her sticking up for
Julie stuff was sickening. Usenet isn't kindergarten.

Yes, musty old ladies, I have a 12 YO son. Johnny has gotten to be quite
the good skater. The final scene at 4:08, where he ollies the 8-stair is
awesome.

He's *thought* he was good for well over a year, but in the past few months
he has gotten to where he actually *is* good. His friend, Charles, is good
too. They're out skating right now.

The water in the little stream is from undeveloped National Forest land,
and is essentially drinking water quality (after boiling). The past 3
Summers have sucked for camping because both my nephew and my wife's cousin

son out there when he was half a year old, their children didn't travel
well. Looks like the camping drought is ending.

Hearty congrats on the family acquisition. We only camp at the Holiday Inn but know some folks who claim to like it. Great job on that.

This is progress, John. You responded to my opinion, and agreed with me.
It would have been fine if you thought that a post of mine was bullshit,
and you'd called me out, that would be OK. By now, we're a special case.
Us burying the hatchet would set an example. Obviously we'll never be
friends again, but we can agree that any disagreements will never again
devolve into personal attacks. No winner, no loser, remember Craig's
lyrics from the Cheep Effects, "They've got to win. You give them sport so
they can compete. Do you want to know the ends that we will meet? LET ME
SPEAK! We'll get weirdos on the street."
