Were you really wondering? It's pretty obvious that he means after cutting
the tomatoes. LOL

Well, the way it was written, it sounded like he took the plates from the
cupboard then had to wash them.

I didn't see it that way at all. Just goes to show that people can read the
same thing and have different conclusions. We were talking about saving time
though, so going to the cupboard to get two plates takes time, and after
they're cut you have to wash the plates, but I still think it's a neat idea.

Much faster for me than cutting a lot of wee tomatoes one at a time!

Even if HE put dirty dishes in the cabinet, I doubt he'd think
we all did that. Of course he meant you have to wash them
afterwards, if it came across another way, just think for a second
what he was really saying.

But that's not how it was written. Nothing wrong with how it was
originally written, what was offensive is how a douchebag used a
little creative editing/cutting to take the statement out of
context... when reading the full text it's patently obvious that the
plates needed washing *after* they're used to cut the tomatoes. Fact
is that tomato cutting method is plainly stupid and saves no time or
effort whatsoever plus gives a slovenly result.

I see nothing "neat" about it, the results would be a bunch of
tomatoes cut every which way... and I can assure you the riper ones
would get squished. I grow lots of cherry tomatoes and I like to
quarter them through the stem end, takes very little time with a sharp
paring knife... I also often pare out the stem core.

Obviously some folks here need lessons in reading comprehension, but
first they need to acquire some common sense, and ethics... to me when
reading the full post prior to that portion being smarmily edited out
of context it was clear that the dishes would need washing AFTER
slicing the tomatoes.

A couple of our resident rocket scientists thought they could slam my
suggestion by pretending that I was suggesting doing it backwards.
Hence my short bus comment.

That is actually how it is written. You get the two plates. Then you have
to wash them. Which is much different than saying that you have to wash
them when you are done.

If I were going to halve a lot of tomatoes for something like a large pasta
salad, I would use that method. But in reality, I rarely buy cherry
tomatoes.

Why cut them in the first place if they're *that* small?

Would he really need to *wash* them... with soap? Rinse the dang
things off and stick them in the dish rack. If he's going to put them
into the dishwasher, why mention it at all?

No matter how you try to justify it, that was still a poorly written

The smarter people here had no trouble understanding it. Only you and
your friend Julie were confused. I know that Julie is not the brightest

Too bad you get YOU get so confused so easily. I said it as a joke,
because your writing was so completely muddled and incomprehensible.
Others only went by what they commonly do, not by what you wrote. You
flunked the writing test.

Oh? That was a joke. There is a remote possibility that it went over my
head, but it is much more likely that it wasn't much of a joke at all.
You wrote it as if it really sounded like I was was suggesting that the
plates would have to be washed before using them to slice the tomatoes.
The you and the Bobblehead patted each other on the back for your
silly excuse for a joke. As I wrote above, only you and Julie had
trouble with it.

Writing for clarity has evaded you, dear boy. You're the one who is
at fault - not me or Julie.

Whenever I use cherry tomatoes in a salad...rare...I quarter them. The
plate thing sounds like a dumb gimmick to me. Easy enough to use a
knife (pronounced - ka-nife)

I have needed them cut for some recipes but I can't recall exactly which
ones.
