Doesn't presentation count? That method doesn't orient the tomatoes
so that they are all sliced in the same direction... I prefer them
sliced stem to stern, not crosswise so all their juices run out. I
rarely slice cherry tomatoes anyway.

You'll have to discuss this with sf, she's the one hung up on 'presentation' so it will 'look pretty.' But I have to admit I rarely slice a cherry tomato in half myself. I guess a person could putz around with the tomatoes to make sure they are all sitting up straight. But if I want smaller bite size pieces I just buy the smaller grape tomatoes.

I agree. I prefer cherry tomatoes to be sliced top to bottom so that the
stem parts are on one edge where they are less obvious. I never thought
that slicing cherry tomatoes was that big a chore. As the unhelpful one
pointed out upthread it takes time to get set up. You have to go to the
cupboard and get two plates. Nobody mentioned that those plates also
have to be washed. I have having trouble seeing it as a time saver, and
I don't think the results would be worth it.

You put dirty plates in your cupboard?

Did that question pop out of your head while you watched the short
yellow bus go by?

She must feel conflicted. She could have been on that short bus herself.

I was wondering the same. I will wash some things before using. Such as
fancy serving pieces that are rarely used. But plates? Hmmm...

Were you really wondering? It's pretty obvious that he means after cutting
the tomatoes. LOL

Well, the way it was written, it sounded like he took the plates from the
cupboard then had to wash them.

I didn't see it that way at all. Just goes to show that people can read the
same thing and have different conclusions. We were talking about saving time
though, so going to the cupboard to get two plates takes time, and after
they're cut you have to wash the plates, but I still think it's a neat idea.

But that's not how it was written. Nothing wrong with how it was
originally written, what was offensive is how a douchebag used a
little creative editing/cutting to take the statement out of
context... when reading the full text it's patently obvious that the
plates needed washing *after* they're used to cut the tomatoes. Fact
is that tomato cutting method is plainly stupid and saves no time or
effort whatsoever plus gives a slovenly result.
