I don't need all the bells and whistles, just something easy. It ticks me off that you pay a lot of money for the software and then it becomes obsolete. My very expensive version of Word Perfect was for DOS. Then I had to buy another version for Windows. Now everyone seems to be using Office or Word. I have an old copy of Office that probably isn't legal. My old laptop had a free copy of office. It took forever to load up, but was for home use only, which is fine. Can't get that any more. You can download Office, but have to pay an annual fee to use it. Screw that. |

If I could wave a magic wand, I'd go back to w3x because everything about it was EZ. But in reality, the only thing I truly dislike about w7 is that old programs need to be installed in a different place from where they went on XP. Unfortunately, I think things will be enough different with w8 that I'll need to pay someone to do it for me because I absolutely detest the process of personalizing my computer. ![]() -- Good Food. That hasn't been necessary in close to 20 years! I have been able to design my own screen for years and years. I put everything I need right where I want it on the screen. FYI, newer versions of WP can even emulate M$ Word as far as screen view and operation. I won't try to convince anyone, but it's the only WP program I am comfortable with and when I upgrade my machine, I'll try to con Dell out of the newest version of WP -- Janet Wilder Way-the-heck-south Texas Spelling doesn't count. But alas, as with anything, use or lose it :/ And I have - Oh well (sigh). Sky, who still has to configure a sig line (again!) ~~~~~~~~ I still use WordPerfect. I can do far more things with it than with Word, despite the fact that Word has become the "standard." I am using version WP version X5, and a new version has recently been released. So, just go to Corel if you would like to get a new version. I really regret the days when WP was based in Orem, UT. They had wonderful (and free) support in those days. I even published a number of study guides (averaging 500 pages each) in WP instead of using regular "publishing" software. MaryL |
