Got the Food Lion weekly ad via email.
http://www.foodlion.com/WeeklySpecials Someone mentioned chuck eye steaks in the thread about cuts of steak. I haven't seen a chuck eye steak in a long time. Surprise! Food Lion has them on sale, $4.99/lb. Without the MvP card, $5.79/lb. I don't know that I'll be buying any chuck eye steaks, but I might swing by and pick up some ribs. They have St. Louis style pork ribs for $2.49/lb. Gotta use that pesky card to get the deal, otherwise $3.99/lb. Center cut beef ribs, also $2.49/lb; sans card $3.79/lb. They are also featuring something they call "dry rub ribs", $2.99/lb. What the heck are dry rub ribs? The ad says "select varieties". How delightfully vague. ![]() I'll go for the St. Louis style. Maybe some beef ribs, too. I had beef ribs when we were in Houston (or was it Kansas) and they were quite tasty. Jill |

Around here the butcher cases are burgeoning with pre-seasoned meat selections for the barbecue crowd that lacks the time or imagination to season their meats themselves. |

I thought the pre-seasoned was a way to get rid of the older meats that were near last sale date. I never buy anything pre-seasoned. |

I haven't cranked up the nerve to try pre-seasoned ribs, but I found out that I love the way Safeway seasons their chicken fajita mix - so it's a nice little time saver if/when you need it. -- Good Food. I never buy anything pre-seasoned. I don't think that's the case anymore. Maybe it was back in the day when ordering wasn't the science it is now and butchers had more to do inside the store. They just seem to open boxes of cryovac meat to break down, repackage and label these days. -- Good Food. Good Friends. Good Memories. |

CVS is relatively new here, but I'm fine blaming them anyway. ![]() -- Good Food. Good Friends. Good Memories. |

I think they are preseasoned for use in a preheated oven. |

All you need to do is say you forgot your card and then give them a random local area phone number. You get the discount and they get garbage for data to peddle. |

I stopped shopping there when they started requiring a card to get sale prices. I usually buy groceries at Publix. No card, just sale prices. But those are good prices at Food Lion for St. Louis style ribs, so it won't kill me to use the card. Jill |

A few months ago stupid me switched my phone number from my discontinued landline that no one has owned since I let it go 7 years ago to my real number. I had two accounts and was trying to get rid of one of them and ended up doing that. I absolutely HATE fiddling with my account on their website, so I probably won't be changing it back any time soon. Nobody memorizes cell phone numbers, so I'm sure my kids would like me to switch back - because they always keyed in the old number to get their discounts too. -- Good Food. Good Friends. You and others are probably right. I don't plan to buy pre-seasoned ribs. I'm perfectly capable of seasoning them myself. Jill |

I remove the membranes, cut the slab in half so it fits in the freezer better and freeze packages of a two-piece slab together. I make my own rub. I smoke the ribs on the cool side of a gas grill using hickory or pecan chips. DH thinks these are the best ribs he's ever had and we've been to a lot of famous rib joints in the US. It's not broke, so I'm not about to fix the process. -- Janet Wilder Way-the-heck-south Texas Spelling doesn't count. Cooking does. --- This email is free from viruses and malware because avast!
