It seems very unfair. I am sorry. And, why does everyone refer to
Ophelia as a "slow cooker"? I mean, yeah maybe she takes a long time to
make her food, or maybe, she's, uh, "challenged", but it seems unfair to
keep pointing it out in posts to this forum

Yeah. From the sounds of what I read here, that is exactly what you did. I
do miss those days of nice chat with Boli, Blake and Littleshoes. Whatever
happened to him?

Hehehe. They are not referring to her as that. She was asking about slow
cooker recipes as I think she just got a new one. But that is pretty funny!

Thank you. I am "weening" off the walker and should be done with it in
two weeks. Then I will be able to drive. Still have 4 more weeks of
PT, but everything is healing nicely.

I still don't know what you're talking about. I have no clue what "rounded
on me" means. I do get the feeling that you think I slighted you in some
way but I have no clue what it was about or what I said or whatever. I am
thinking that you took something I said the wrong way. But you won't tell
me so I guess I'll never know.

Yes, sadly I know the first two are dead. I too am on FB but not for this
group. This place here is enough grief for me. I go to FB for
pleasantries.

I know you didn't. I just have no interest in joining this *group* on FB.
Not from all the nonsense I have seen going on here. I don't generally join
FB groups. But I am on a few of them.

9 red one white. Tempranillo, San Giovase and Malbec mostly. These
grapes flourish in the area. I prefer varietals to all that blended
stuff (except for Cabernet-Souvignon). When a winery has to blend all
their grapes to come up with a drinkable product it tells me that they
aren't very good at growing grapes.

Default I ate a pear! (really)

I just ate a pear! It was ripe and juicy and nicely chilled from the
fridge.

I sliced some room temp blue Stilton cheese to eat with my wonderful pear.

Washed it down with a vodka martini.

Mom used to make a pear and cheese salad that I liked a lot. Canned
pears in heavy syrup, arrange each pear half on a leaf or two of
lettuce, top with shredded Velveeta, and drizzle with a dressing of
Miracle Whip, milk, pear juice, and sugar.

I realize that the Miracle Whip and Velveeta will make some people gag,
but it shows Mom's Depression-era roots, and I still like the stuff.

There's quite a difference between an unmoderated newsgroup and
moderated forums, isn't there. One place allows for people to say what
they really think, whereas the other places limitations on the same.

Put those same people from faecebook here... I wonder what would
happen.

Yum! I'm still loving my pears here. I've been simply slicing the
pears ( and the odd apple) into a bowl, add cream, brandy or vanilla
essence and/or maple syrup.

These pears taste so different to me, partly because they are my own
(I guess), but clearly they are at their peak of ripeness, right now.
They just seem to be extra fragrant, tender and tastier than pears
I've had before.

What didn't you like about it Janet? Was the pear to hard? Was the
cheese to moldy?
;-)

Yes. Still haven't tried another one. Will try a bite later.

Sorry, Dave. There is nothing "Julie" about me. The pear was succulent
and the cheese was the perfect creamy, salty companion. If it was not, I
would not have posted it. :-)

I don't know and I don't want to know.

Jill, if I've been drinking a lot of red wine, I'll get a headache from
the sulfites they put in it to preserve it.

A few years ago we celebrated new years eve in Buenos Aires, Argentina
at a party held in a Tango show venue. Dinner came with the price of the
evening and there were bottles of Malbec on the table. I probably drank
three or four of them myself over the course of the evening. I was
dancing with everyone...old, young, male, female... didn't matter to me,
I was in uber-party mode and having a great time.

Later, after celebrating the new year with a whole bunch of sparkling
wine, I figured I'd wake up the next AM with one hell of a red wine
headache. Didn't happen because the Malbec was local wine and not
treated with sulfites.

Some day I'm gonna get me back to Buenos Aires for the Malbec and the
best ever in my life rib eye steaks. If it wasn't for my experiences in
BA, I think I would have died not knowing w3hat meat really tastes like.
