Default I ate a pear!

Or tried to. Not a pleasant experience. Not sure they are ripe. The did
soften slightly but are still rather hard. Biting into one leaves me with
that sort of chalky experience in the mouth that you get when you eat Tums.
They are neither sweet nor sour nor do they have much flavor at all. I see
online that if they are Forelle then they should have a slight cinnamon
taste. But these do not. They're just sort of texture in the mouth and not
a good texture at that. I can't really taste anything of the flesh but the
peel does have a slight taste. Not necessarily a good taste. Perhaps a
tiny bit bitter. And the flesh goes brown almost immediately once I take a
bite.

Will try them again when more ripe. Perhaps in a day. Will for sure look
at Costco to see if I can come up with a name for them. At this point they
look far better than they taste.

Oh and I looked at Albertsons. They had Bartlett, two kinds of Anjou and
Comice. But not these.

*If* this is all genuine, I'm stunned that you are still alive and
have managed to fend for yourself. I've never met anybody like you in
real life, not even close.

You are truly contemptible. It's just a freakin' pear, and look at all
the whining you do about it. "Not a pleasant experience". Christ!
I can only imagine your reaction to some genuine hardship.

Your experience is probably an example why they aren't in your grocery

That could well be. People were sooo excited about them too! Probably
because of the size. Much better IMO than the giant Coscto sized pears that
they normally sell. At least if you have to watch your carbs.

Just a pear and yet you have three posts so far in this thread.

Just look at the sheer number of follow ups that a Julie post will
generate. Amazing isn't it.

Just the same MO for the OP - Gripe, gripe gripe - and more gripes.
Nothing pleasant to say and never specific either - or actually TOO
specific and TMI!!!! Who in hell blazes wants to know about her
dysfunctional kin & ken ?!

Yeah, yeah - I can "not" read the bovine's OPs and responses, but like
some others here, they're a source of some minor entertainment and more
fodder for troll bait Too easy - it always responds with inane and
irrational reasons why it and/or family members does or doesn't do this
or that - etc. ad nauseum !!!!

Sky

Food - Orange juice with pineapple is really, really good !!!! Bought
it by accident one time and haven't gone back

Indeed! And I was *asked* to report on them after I ate one. I now know
why mom mom says that she hates pears. She said she didn't like the texture
as they were so grainy. She must have eaten this kind. I do think all
other pears I have eaten have had a bit of a grainy texture to them but not
one that was objectionable. Pears are usually one of the few fruits that I
like. I will continue to give these a chance in the hopes that they just
are not ripe yet.

Where are there any holes? I bought the pears and was asked to report back
after I ate one. I did. And now if I find out for sure what kind they are,
I will report back on that. It would seem that there is nothing I can post
about here to where I am not attacked by someone. Even if I stick entirely
to food, someone still attacks me. I didn't cook it right or something.

Let's just say that your history of lies and bullshit has led to your
credibility rating to be very low. I used to see apples bagged with the
name of the variety on the bag. I have never seen that with pears. Now
you are telling us about some type of pear that you can't identify and
are claiming that you threw out the back that had the name on it.

Didn't cook it right?? You posted that you cook all your meat ahead of
time and then reheat it for the rest of your herd, the people who don't
like your cooking.

The texture you are referring to is more likely mealy. That is the way
pears get after a long time in storage.

I think there are two possibilities
1. They are not ripe and will be fine once ripened.
2. They are not rip and they wee picked far too soon and will never
ripen properly and never have the right texture.

I tend to avoid supermarket fruit because #2 is far too common. Some
fruits are picked so they can be shipped and stored, but they willnot
mature properly and can rot before ripening.

You could try poaching them to soften them up. Poached pears are quite
yummy.

No she won't. She's a nightmare to satisfy. She won't eat this or that
and hates the other.

What can I say Janet. It is a source of cheap thrills. It is fascinating
to see the crap building up. I figured that if so many others were going
to respond to her, to treat her as if she was close to normal, even if
only to satisfy their own need to post and reply compulsively, I might
as well drag her out of the filter and call her on her BS. I am not
worried about offending her because she is so narcissistic that I am
sure she enjoys the attention. Better to get negative feedback than to
be ignored. It is a coincidence that several others have hit that same
level of frustration and jumped on her too.

I was only curious about what reason who would have that she, her
sainted husband or daughter would have for not liking them.

Seems they weren't very good. Knock me over with a feather.

They most certainly are. If done right, sublime, even.

Poached in red wine, sugar, lemon peel and served with vanilla ice cream.

Apparently so. I don't really know what they would do without me here. It
would be like that Millions of Cats book where all the cats turned on each
other and ate each other up! Apparently they just must have someone to pick
on and for whatever reason, they want it to be me.

We'd talk about cooking and food, mostly.

Yes. That was it. We waited until you were busy cutting up Angela's
dinner on her plate for her... then we all held a meeting on chat, and
decided YOU were to be our sacrificial RFC lamb.

mmm... lamb.

Wish I had some red wine and ice cream now...

I don't know about this variety but I have noticed with other kinds of
pears, the window for ripeness is small. I will be waiting, then all of a
sudden they are mush.

Maybe for you. To me they taste just like canned pears and I've already got
lots of canned pears.
