I saw a display with quite a few new flavors... but one flavor grossed
me out. Here's a picture that meets Sheldon's high photographic
standards and the flavor is right up his alley. LOL

That picture is fine 'cause you lifted it off the net, not taken with
your 5˘ Cracker Jacks toy camera. I like dill pickles but I don't
like Wheat Thins... I prefer Triscuits, they make a dill flavored one
too but I haven't tried it, my favorite is cracked black pepper and
olive oil. Dildo is up sf's alley.

I'll pass on them. If I want a dill pickle, it will come from the
barrel at the deli. Many of the flavors of chip I do like though.

Actually, one of my favorite snacks since childhood has been dill
pickle slices on mini shredded wheat biscuits. It basically makes for
an extra-crunchy dill pickle.

Sure, but that's not the same as infusing a cracker with whatever it is
they use to make it taste like a dill pickle.

I've tried a lot of the "new" flavors that Wheat Thins and Triscuits
have come up with - but I don't even like what I think might be
passable like the olive oil and rosemary or parmesan. Dill Pickle?
Yuck. They had Chili Cheese and Sundried Tomato & Basil, plus they
have a new one called "Popped" Wheat thins. Still not interested -
but I am thinking I may try their "flatbread" cracker. That one might
work for me.

I've seen dill pickle flavored potato chips, but never tried them. I
also once had hot-dog flavored potato chips; they were disgusting.

I think it's safe to write off any meat flavor chips right off
the bat.

One of the most disgusting things I tried were the Oscar Meyer Bacon
Flavored hot dogs. Never heard of hot dog flavored chips, but that sounds
bad too.

I haven't seen dill pickles in barrels here in over 20 some years.

I only know one place that sells them in bulk like that, but it's a
big plastic bucket - not a barrel. Fortunately for me, they're half
sours. Those things are my kind of food crack, so it's a good thing I
don't shop at that store very often.

Not Nabisco but Keebler... Town House Flatbread Crisps.

They have two flavors that I've tried and I like both -

- Italian Herb
- Sea Salt and Olive Oil

Here's a funny that my brother-in-law told me once years ago.
He was living with roommates at the time.

One morning he woke up and made a cup of instant coffee. There was
already some water in a pot on the stove, so he just heated that up
and made his coffee with it.

It was so nasty. Turned out that a roommate had boiled some hotdogs
and ate them the night before so he made his coffee from that old
hotdog water. heheh

I've tried so many of the "new flavored" chips. Most aren't worth
eating. The only flavored ones that I do like occasionally are the
"sour cream and onion" ones. Most times, I just buy plain old Classic
Lays chips. They are my favorite and the ferret loves them too.

I've seen sriracha chips, but have never tried them. Anyone have an opinion?

Yes, now plastic, but they still taste like a good pickle. I've never
had one from a jar that comes close. There is a deli that I go to that
has pickles, kraut, and the like in bulk. When you walk in the door, you
get hit with the smell of a great deli. Very few exist now.

Half-sours are my favorite, too. They are very hard to come by. If I
can find unwaxed cucumbers, I make them.

In the barrels, they were always so tasty and crisp. I haven't found
an equivalent sold in jars yet, sadly. ;(

I got some dill pickle popcorn. I didn't try it but the person I gave it to
loved it!

Have you seen the thing on the Internet where they cut up hot dogs and stick
spaghetti through the pieces? Looks to be about 5 strands per piece. Boil
it all until the spaghetti is done. Kids are supposed to like this.

They seem to be popular in other countries though. I was shocked at some of
the flavors I saw that already exist elsewhere when Lays started that first
new flavor contest. Shrimp. No thanks!

Bacon jerky is the big thing in this house now. I was brought some when I
was in the hospital. I love bacon but it has to be blotted well and super
crispy. This stuff is thick, kinda limp and chewy. I would eat it if I
were starving but... I'm not a fan.

I like the Limon but I don't like them enough to finish a bag. Not even a
small bag. I actually am not a big potato chip eater or lover. Once in a
while I will want some. My old cat Maui loved Pringles and Stax. She also
loved mashed potatoes and pretty much any fresh veggies from the garden. I
would take her out on her leash and she would eat peas right from the vine,
pods and all. I did have to watch her around the onions. She loved onions
and I used to let her have them before I knew that they were bad for cats.
Must not have caused too much harm as she was nearly 18 when she died.

That's what my daughter said too. And she recently tried the Jacked Doritos
and said they didn't really taste like anything.

Ew. Was there not an oil slick on the top?

I was watching some sort of restaurant cooking show once and this trainee
kept taking what they thought was broth to put over various dishes. The
diners were sending the food back. Turns out that it was plain water with a
ladle in it that they kept hot in case they needed to thin down a sauce or
something.

I think PCC has a very small pickle barrel. But I can get the individually
wrapped big dills. I had one and it was good.

Oh man! I wish I could get those here. I think I still have Wayne's recipe

Yes. I know someone who only liked this one pickle. They are still being
made. Just not sold in this area and we can't find anyone online who sells
them.

The shrimp chips that I've had, from Oriental markets, have more in
common with Cheetos than with American style potato chips. You can get
them puffed and unpuffed; the puffed kind you eat right out of the bag,
and the unpuffed kind you toss into hot oil, and they puff up right
before your eyes, sort of like popcorn. The result is a sort-of flat
Cheetoh, shrimp flavored rather than cheese flavored. They're pretty good.

Why would hot dogs boiled in water be oily?

May I ask why you buy things like dill pickle popcorn to give away?

Well, I hope you like them. Try both. :-D

I picked up a box today... and now I don't remember which one without
getting up and checking - but I'll guess and say it's the sea salt and
olive oil or else I'd remember something different.

I bought truffle flavored goat cheese to eat with it. Hoping I didn't
make a mistake!

Hmmm... Okay. I'm not a fan of puffed things though.

I don't know but any time I boiled them there was a little oil on top of the
water.

Because the person I gave it to loves both popcorn and pickles! And she
love this!

You don't drink that... use that oil for bathing.

If you cook all beef hotdogs in water (especially Oscar Meyer ones),
there will definitely be an oil slick on the top of the water.
Evidently, he saw the pot of water on the stove the next morning but
didn't look at it closely. He just turned on the burner and made
instant hotdog coffee with it. heheh
