Wouldn't want to eat that, but this pretty critter might chew on it:

What the hell is up with all the invasive jump in your face ads on
tinypic these days? I don't like using it anymore.

Quite so. It's bad enough just to have ads on the sides of a web page,
but the ones that jump in front and if you don't click just right they
take you to *their* advertising web site... cut it out! If I wanted to
go there I'd go there. Sheesh!

These sites are free to the user and they have to be paid for somehow, so I
don't object. I am just pleased to have them available.

Same here, I use AdBlock Plus and I see no ads, anywhere. That helps on
Facebook, for those who have not used it.

Yes, I understand the alternative - but they could at least be less in
your face about it.

Yes! It certainly does make FB a better experience. I also installed
F.B. (Fluff Busting) Purity after Gary mentioned it and I like what it
can do too. FB keeps changing their code, so there are minor
annoyances but it does what I ask it to do.

Yes, I don't mind the ads, but when they jump out at you and you can't
continue until you've clicked on the "X" that's what annoys me the most.

I deleted No Script because it got to be too big of a PITA putting web
sites on the white list, okaying this or that... but jump in your face
ads sound like java script to me. Wondering if NS would be a better
alternative for you?

I don't even need AdBlock. I use this ancient browser for newsgroup
reading and links and I never get ads popping up.

If people would post the direct link to a picture, it might be better.

Instead of Jill posting this: http://tinypic.com/m/ibl8oi/4

Try the direct addy to the pic: http://i57.tinypic.com/t6f90i.jpg

AKA: the raw image? In times past, when you posted the raw image,
that's what came up - but it hasn't been the case lately IME.

My popup blocker stops that, but it still took nearly 20 seconds for
the pic to load for me (due to all the other irrelevant junk in the
page). I wish people would stop using tinypic, it's not what its used
to be. I've been using http://www.hostpic.org/ for a few years now.

Sorry but I can't keep up with everyone's browser version. If I post
using Photobucket you can't view it. I started using tinypic as a nod
to you, Gary. Sorry if I grabbed the wrong code. It's just a cute
little fawn.

That doesn't work anymore. It automatically makes you read the ads.

I just clicked on this "direct" link and was redirected to
http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=t6f90i&s=8#.U4_0ESjHjH8

Ads and all.

I wasn't complaining about your tinypic posts Jill. They work fine for
me with no popups and I couldn't get your old photoshop pics. I only
suggested the direct link for those here that complain about the popup
ads.

My ancient Netscape browser just shows the pic. I tried this in my
much newer Firefox browzer and I got the same redirect as you did.

Sometimes old is good. No need to fix it if it ain't broken?

I installed AdBlock Plus. Thanks to all who suggested it. I'm still
going to veer away from Tinypic. I don't begrudge free sites having to
do something to pay to maintain the service. It's just the ads that
jump to the middle of the page that are so annoying.
