It's stating the obvious though, sort of like brush your teeth to avoid a
myriad of dental problems.

In the early years when I watched it, she did mention being molested etc. I
don't know about the later years.

It wasn't that. It was the fact that she used to be a prostitute. I don't
think I ever heard her mention that on the show.

Rosie is one that I really can't stand. It's her personality and that phony
smile. Look closely. Her eyes never smile. Only her mouth and it is super
fake looking.

I got the impression that while Oprah didn't make light of the abuse or
being molested, she didn't want it to become the focal point of her show.

Some MDs are so "open-minded" about various forms of quackery that it's
a wonder their brains haven't fallen out! Oz seems to lack any critical
faculties.

When I was a kid, before I was a teenager, croquet was all the rage. We
played it at the club and we played it at home. There wasn't much for
kids to do at the club, other than swimming and playing croquet, I had
no interest in golf or tennis.

Oh, PLEASE - let's not start THAT discussion again. It's almost as tired as the Chronicles of La Bove.

Before she was famous, she was a prostitute. She admitted to it in her book
but only many years after she was famous.

The only person who claims that Oprah was a prostitute, is Kitty Kelly,
and she is trying to sell books, not tell the truth.

I'm not sure which book I read that said this. But it wasn't a recent one.

I get a distinct feeling from one subset of these men that their
obsession with sex change is actually a sexual fetish, rather than
being a case of body/gender dysmorphia. They are so into dressing and
acting as women that they want to take it to the point of being
legally recognized as women, though they don't really want to
sacrifice their penis, because that's not the point of their fetish.
Their makeup, dress, and mannerisms are exaggeratedly feminine - based
on what they think being female is about, not based on what it is for
the average woman. They're not interested in being just an average
woman - they want to be the va-va-voom woman you only see in movies
and tv (and sometimes working the street corners). And since they're
still really heterosexual guys at heart, they want to still have sex
with women, just while dressing and acting as they think women do.

I believe you are right. I have spoken to someone online and I think he/she
fits that profile. I also know of a case of a guy who lived in Seattle who
had started to go through the procedure. Was taking hormones and all. But
ran low on funds so worked as a prostitute. He then discovered that there
was such a market for heshes that he had decided (at that point anyway) to
keep on like that. I did not know this guy personally. I just happened to
be in a restaurant with some friends when he came in. He was dressed as a
woman. He did look nice as a woman but he was so tall that he had to duck
to get in the door. As we turned around to look, my one friend whispered,
"Don't look! I'll tell you later."

Turned out that this guy was in one of his college classes and had been
telling everyone all of this stuff. That is how my friend knew of it. But
my friend also thought that this guy had a crush on him and he just wasn't
interested which is why he didn't want to be noticed.
