Back on December 1st, 2013, I posted about my new kitchen, with a link to photos of it.
The last bit I put in was a "feature" to break up the white expanse of the tile floor and add a touch of whimsy to it. I wanted a compass rose and after not finding anything pre-made suitable, ended up making one myself at a local pottery shop. Fun little project. <http://s1196.photobucket.com/user/Silvar_Beitel/media/New%20Kitchen/After/20140508_160532_1_zps7908f31c.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0> Scroll back from that to see how it fits in the floor and to re-examine all the rest of the "after" photos if you're interested. Yes, the yellow tip points to true north. -- Silvar Beitel |

Good observational skills! Short answer: yes. But. In order to pull the drawer on that (left) side out *entirely* (e.g to deal with a major spill), I have to pull the drawers on the right side out and slide the left drawer over to get it out the right-side door. Not a big deal. It was either live with that or knock down that wall and reconfigure the bathroom behind it, which was more work than we wanted. We're very happy with the FD fridge and it's bottom freezer, especially since that sucker puts out an enormous amount of ice :-) -- Silvar Beitel |

We wanted a compact but versatile cooktop to maximize counter space, so chose one with the cluster of knobs on top rather than in front. That gave us the opportunity for an additional drawer, but only a really shallow one. So, we said, what use is a really shallow drawer? The light bulb finally turned on and the knives moved from a knife block on the counter to the drawer. Other randomly useful *flat* things were added (kitchen timers, scale, toothpicks, flame-tamer, etc.) and we became very happy with the result :-) -- Silvar Beitel |

It's a classic original colonial built in 1742. There are many original and funky bits (like the beehive oven). We just made our own contributions for future owners to wonder about / laugh at / condemn :-) (Like someone said in another thread recently, houses like this own you as much as you own them :-) ) -- Silvar Beitel |

I have been following the thread on your reno. I'm terribly jealous of your short time line. Our kitchen (OK, granted there was a bit more to the work than just the kitchen) took many months to complete, partly because the custom cabinetry got mis-made initially, partly because the general contractor was a lazy but exacting SOB[1], and partly because the demo/flooring/electrical subcontractor[2] was slow too.
