In Texas is is legal to hunt feral hogs from a helicopter, is this a
great state or what? Unfortunately heli time is still a bit pricey so
I'll stay ground based for now.

You could say that. I've heard some pretty wild stories around here
from the not-too-distant past.

Does Texas still have those sodomy laws in place? Sounds like it.

I find it funny, although one or two episodes are enough for me.
Have to admit the worst Bogans on the show all seem to be from

The whole country has strange ideas. In most of the country they will
throw people in jail for a long long time for possessing a small amount
of pot because they thing that pot is the first step towards a life of
crime and violence. Up here, you can get away with small amounts of pot,
but the guns with which the criminals commit their evil deeds will get
you into trouble.

The gas stations around my school have painted signs out reading,
"Homemade biscuits!". A teacher told me they are made by The Biscuit
Lady. Who is she? She's the lady who makes biscuits and delivers them
to the gas stations. But who is she? She's The Biscuit Lady. The
biscuits are so good - sausage, bacon, egg, pork chop, hot link, cheese,
etc. I indulge a few times a year and I'm not dead yet.

That makes me think of a fast food chain that uses 100% PureBeef.... a
patented product named that, but not necessarily what you and I think
would be *pure* beef.

Oh, I do believe in The Biscuit Lady. Only a Biscuit Lady could make
these good biscuits.

Tell me about it!

I can get a concealed carry permit to carry a handgun. I can legally
carry a stun device. I can legally smoke pot. But, it's against the
law to carry a stun device if you smoke pot. Go figure.

That's interesting. The only thing most Americans know about Tasmania is
that it's the home of the Tasmanian devil. I'm not talking about the
marsupial, I mean the cartoon character. Oh well...

Legally though... sodomy isn't just getting it up the bum.
It's any sex act that doesnt result in conception, or at least trying
to procreate. I learned that from a Mr Raoul Duke, many years ago.

It's a funny place, Tasmania. It's far enough away from the mainland
so that it's remained largely untouched and isolated - if you go to
some of the really small and isolated towns, the gene pool is
pretty... restricted, let's just say. Basically unchanged since the
convict days. You're not a local unless you were born within a few
miles of the town. And you're not welcome there, either, for the most
part.

Of course, they're in the minority but they do exist.
Plenty of other very wonderful and helpful people here, that plus a
pristine environment with the world's cleanest air and water more than
compensate for me. A world away from the rat race... this computer is
my only link to that world.

I'm not dead yet either... with not even a twinge in the nether

Yes, if we were younger ... I guess we spent too many years working and

Thanks for the info. Sounds like a pretty good deal. I suppose that if I
wanted a simpler, slower life I could just hop a plane to one of the
other island just a few minutes away from here. I recently visited a
senior center on one of these islands and my understanding is that our
host asked if I had a girlfriend. She wanted to fix me up with one of
the ladies there. I said "aye carumba!" OTOH, I always want to keep my
options open. :-)

Isn't Tasmania pretty much off the grid? I wouldn't mind going solar
or wind for power, but I would not want to collect rainwater.

LOL! This reminds me of a quote from an old movie about military boot
camp.

The only word I've changed here is rifle to weapon...

This is my weapon (he holds up his rifle)
And this is my gun (and he grabs his crotch)
One is for killing
And one is for fun

something like that. heheh

Full Metal Jacket

You might have mentioned another famous line from that, where one guys
asks a helicopter machine gunner how he can should women and
children.... "Easy. Just don't lead them as much".

They're harmless to humans... just as long as you don't try to pick up
a wild one. They're scavengers rather than killers.

They are. Fairly common around here and in good health. Unfortunately
Devils are under danger due to 'mystery' cancerous growths. No
official cause, but plenty of anecdotal evidence that its caused bt
baiting for feral cats and foxes (we have no foxes here, but that's
another story).

I very nearly hit a wedge tailed eagle two days ago... they commonly
feast on road kill, and they get a bit blase' about cars. Plus, they
are massive birds and take a lot of time to get airborne
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wedge-tailed_eagle
A close call, I would have been devastated if I'd killed it.

I like it too. It cuts both ways though, sometimes you need to take
care of things yourself.
