Default Fresh radishes on sale

In my weekly grocery store sale ad (which comes out on Wednesday every
week), they have one listing for fresh radishes. Only 99 cents each
this week. I so laughed when I saw that. 99 cents each per radish?
What a bargain!

I can only assume that it was a misprint and maybe a bunch of radishes
are that price. I'll be going there tomorrow morning. I don't plan to
buy any but I'll just *have* to look and see what the real deal is.

I wouldn't pay .99 cents for a bunch either.

I know 99 cents sounds like a lot for a bunch of radishes but they keep
better in a bunch but a bag of leafless radishes seems to last long
enough that some will rot.

I most always buy them in bunches, but not for .99 cents, usually around
..50.

What would you pay?

They had to be picked, bunched, cleaned, packed, shipped, unloaded,
stored, refrigerated, stacked on the display.

How much for the ones that aren't fresh?

You're either rich or foolish then... either way, you don't appear to
have a handle on your expenses. Not anything to brag about.

I don't pay attention either. When I do buy them they are usually loose and
I just buy a few. I am going to the store later and will look at the
prices.

I don't see it that way at all. There are a few things I don't pay
attention to and radishes is one. Why? I only buy them perhaps 3 times a
year and often it is only 3 at a time. I buy because I want them.

I once had a person tell me that young women were foolish because they put a
whole dryer sheet in at a time and used a fresh one each time. This was an
older woman who cut hers in half and used one sheet perhaps a dozen times.
I don't even use dryer sheets any more. Can't use with HE and don't seem to
need softener now. But... Dryer sheets are cheap! Sheesh.

I checked the price. $2.48 per pound. These were loose. No leaves.
Trimmed at the top. I bought 5.

Yep, there are some thing that I want and don't care what the cost is.
Especially if it is a dollar. I won't buy cherries at $8 knowing they
will be better tasting in a couple of weeks at $3 but if the price never
came down, I'd still buy a handful.

When I was a kid, cherries came loose. You could buy exactly how many you
wanted and take your time to pick out the good ones. Now (at least here)
they tend to sell them for a set price and in clam packs. You can see bad
ones in there. So, I won't buy. I did buy a bag of them at Target. Still
more than I wanted and sold by the bag. Not by the pound.

One thing I will pay mind to the price of is bell peppers. I no longer eat
as many as I used to. I used to buy perhaps 2 of each color per week,
assuming the price was good enough. I would sometimes buy more. I do like
them slightly more than carrots and celery but... Carrots and celery are
usually cheaper. So if I'm just eating raw veggies, any one of those will
do. Sometimes I need them for cooking so I keep dried ones. That way if
the price is more than I want to pay, I'll just use some of those.

I usually pay about .50 for a bunch.

Personally, I've never seen a bunch of radishes that cost as much as .99 in
a grocery store. They're usually no more than .50. I have seen them cleaned
in fairly large bags at the .99 cent store though.

Good one, Julie. I only said "fresh" because that's how the ad
described them.
Exact sale ad words were... "Fresh radishes - 99 cents each"

I looked at them this morning and, of course. they were not .99 each.
It was .99 for a bunch of them with leaves on. I weighed the bunch and
it was about 1.4lb for .99 cents. The leaves were all wilted though
so....so much for "fresh" radishes.

Anyone that likes radishes should just grow their own. They grow fast
and easy.

lol! They always are, Steve. It was a joke. I knew they weren't .99
per radish but at first glance, that's how the ad sounded.

Look for yourself, this is what I saw in my sale ad on Wed. morning.
I laughed when I saw it:

G. :-D

Ps - in case you don't read all messages, I mentioned already that I
checked them out this morning. They were in bunches of about 10
radishes, approx. 1.4 pounds and all with wilted leaves for the .99
each. I didn't buy any.

Very funny that you should mention green onions. Right about the
radish ad there was an ad for green onions for .50 per bunch. And I
bought one today. I'll use it for "something" tomorrow.
