Default The Kitchen is almost done

I was in the dig house for not wanting to do the kitchen installation
before our Swedish friends came to visit. They were due on May 26 and we
were told the earliest the cabinets could be ready was the 19th. I
figured we needed time in case things did not go smoothly. They did not.

The uppers and lowers were in the first day. The pantry went in the
second day. They ran into a problem with the angled end of the pantry.
Back to the drawing board. The boss came today with the pieces and the
installer is coming back tomorrow to finish it.

Then there was the plumbing. Holy crap. What a nightmare. I had to
drill out too extra holes in the sink. I could have got a four hole sink
but I still needed to drill a hole for the distiller tap.

What a time we had getting the sink into place. It dropped right and the
side hold down clamps were easy enough to install and tighten, but the
four across the front were impossible. The brackets were too close to
the cabinet braces and there was not enough room to slip them up and
into the brackets. We finally figured it out.

Then the smoke test. As soon as I plugged in the distiller tap it
started spraying all over. We somehow managed to break it so it had to
be replaced. The faucets worked but the drains leaked. Even my handyman
neighbour could not get it to stop leaking.

I broke down and called a plumber. He said it is usually best to start
fresh, and he suggested upgrading the drains. He said the ones that came
with the sink are crap and almost always leak. In less than 20 minutes
he had everything working.

The installers are coming tomorrow to do the one end of the pantry and
then we are pretty well done. I am still going to have to paint the
ceiling.
