Saucepan repair?
 

One of the few things I have of my mother's is a Revereware 1.5 quart saucepan.
I use it for making oatmeal, or boiling eggs.

While I was washing it the other day, the handle came right off. The
handle is attached by sheet metal folded around the handle and riveted,
with two tabs apparently spot welded to the pot itself. This bit of
sheet metal suddenly cracked at both tabs.

Because of the sentimental value, I would like to get this repaired.
Does anyone have any experience, or any ideas?

Any metal fabrication shop should be able to do it for you.

same sentimental value, but you could pretend.

I have some old Revere Ware pots so I know exactly what you're
describing... it would be very difficult during normal use to break
that welded part, maybe your mother used it to whack your father's
head. hehe If the piece cracked at the spotweld or the welded bracket
fractured you're pretty much out of luck unless you can find a welding
shop that will make the repair gratis, but I suspect a welding shop
would charge more to make the repair than what it would cost to buy a
new pot. Were it the bakelite handle that broke that can be easily be
replaced for like $10. I don't know that Revere Ware makes a 1 1/2
quart sauce pot, I own a three quart, and a 10" fry pan. I would just
buy a new one... I don't see what's to get sentimental about a mass
produced pot you can still buy:

There is nothing that the average homeowner can do.

I'd call a couple of metal fabrication shops and see if they can
spotweld. Next choice would be a regular weld job, but that will leave
a bead.

I have no idea of cost, but I'd expect to pay $25 to $50. Maybe with
the story of sentimental value you can get it done for a six-pack.

I have my grandmother's Club Aluminum Dutch Oven and I'd pay a
ridiculous amount of money if I had to fix it. It has to be pushing 100
years old, but had great memories of pot roast.

Maybe it's still covered under the Revere Ware warranty, contact them
and say you'd prefer it was repaired rather than replaced, they may
suprise you... or they may be able to sell your that cracked bracket.

There are others on eBay. They cost more with shipping. And some include
the lid. I'm assuming here that you still have the lid, or if you don't,

Putting them in the dishwasher will make them matte. My old ones got like
that. I haven't put my new ones in there and they're shiny.

size, with lids. They also used to make a very small tiny copper clad
pan that only held about 1 liquid cup. It was allegedly a butter warmer:

Just use a removable handle, such as this. You might also be able to find
one in camping stores.

I had one of the one cup little pots. I used it in the laundry room to measure detergent.
