Don't listen to him, it's not your job to clean the mailboxes. They
look like they need to be painted, but that's not your job either. They
belong to the Post Office. The most you can do is complain about the
appearance. Chances are it won't do any good, but I'm not one to keep
my mouth shut about stuff like that *if* it bothers me.

We don't get to wear cool looking jackets and coats. There was a ski
jacket that I used to love to wear on the mainland. So soft, warm, and
comfortable. I'd look pretty stupid if I wore it over here. That's the

winter. It's 76° right now but it's 10:30 at night. That's *very*
mild. During the day the last few have been mid 90's. The rain cooled
things off to the 80's today but it's still very steamy.

earthquake/tsunami in Japan - 2011?

It's not a laughing matter. The problem isn't limited to contaminated
trash, there are live organisms (invasive species) that are a real

tornado! She sent pics of trees uprooted or split in two. It was a real
mess.

A tsunami warning would depend on how far you are from the ocean and
also how high you live above sea level. If you got one in your area,
I'll believe the threat was real.

We get the occasional debris from the tsunami over here. In our case,
most of it flows past us. In your case, you have a parade of crap
flowing Southwards along the entire West coast of North America. It's
going to change the ecology and sea life in many unpredictable ways.
It's something that we've never experienced before. Hopefully your crabs
can survive the onslaught.

Nah. I have lived in hot places. I never got used to it. But AC rules.
It's 70 right now but very muggy so unbearable. I think it must have been
muggy yesterday because my hair felt weirdly damp. Another person said hers
was the same. I thought at first that I just hadn't rinsed my hair well and
there was some conditioner in it but no. It finally dried. I just think it
is the weather.

It was on the news. They didn't say who it would affect but I am not
remotely close to the water here.

I have always hated the heat, even as a young child. I don't know how I
ended up in the San Joaquin Valley where it's hotter than Hell, the only
thing worse is heat with humidity. LOL

I agree! I'm a veteran of Michigan. I can clearly remember when it
was too hot/humid to sleep on those clammy sheets, so I turned out
onto the floor which gave me no respite because they were hot and
sticky (no air conditioning at my house way back then).

Yes. I actually don't mind the dry heat so much in places like Las Vegas
but I also think part of the not minding is that I know I will only be there
for a few days and there is AC everywhere. But by the end of my stay, I am
usually pretty miserable. I don't normally have dry skin and hair but I
will get it there and my eyes will itch too, perhaps from the lack of
humidity.

I am a real Princess when it comes to weather. Perfect for me is around
50-70 degrees, but prefer around 60. Overcast is best or a few peeks of sun
but not bright and sunny. Light wind at best. A little rain is fine so
long as it's not a torrential downpour.

This area fits most of that but Alameda fit it much better. I had a lot of
other issues with Alameda though. Such as the lack of any good stores. I
had to brave going to Oakland or some other city or order online for much of
what I wanted to get. At least I could get Angela's shoes at the mall.
They generally only ever had one pair in her size and thankfully she wasn't
picky. And eventually some clothing store came into the mall. I bought her
a dress. But the rest of our clothing had to be purchased online. Food
wasn't a problem. At least in terms of grocery stores. No really good
restaurants though. Buttercup Kitchen in Oakland was the best nearby one.
At least it wasn't located in the high crime area of Oakland.

Was just talking to a lady today who moved here last year because her
husband found a job here. She said this would have been the last place she
would have picked to live. Until she got here. And now she said she loves
it. The weather is so much better than in Omaha where she is from.

Yep. I got a blistering sunburn in KS. My cousin and I went swimming in my
grandma's pool. I was young enough not to realize that the water would only
magnify the sun's rays and cause a worse burn. No suncreen in those days
either. I only knew that the cold water in the pool felt good because it
was so hot and muggy out. I stayed in there all day.

Now the sunburn was bad enough. But having to try to sleep? My grandma
didn't have AC and they didn't have it where we were staying in OK either.
That was at my uncle's cabin.

The sheets were like sandpaper on my skin. That was the year that we took
the tent trailer to stay in so nowhere along the line was I able to take
advantage of any AC in a motel. My dad wouldn't stay in a hotel in those
days unless he had to. He loved Motel 6.

I've never seen one in rl. Can't say I want to either The pic she sent
of the one they had was enough They had 4 separate storms in a 36 hour
period.

Even worse than heat with humidity is adding in no wind. Oh man that
kills me in the summertime mornings. I can deal with the heat, but
not when there is no breeze.

When i was younger, I always said, the hotter the better, and I meant
it then buy no longer.
