Default hot soup for lunch

There's a heat wave somewhere, but it's foggy and cool at my house.
So, split pea soup for lunch was a perfect meal. Right now, I'm
patting myself on the back because I'd frozen mirepoix in snack
baggies - so all I needed to do was pull it out and cook.

I had red lentil soup, served with croissants and cheese.

It's hot here but split pea soup sounds good!

Do you have ham in the pea soup?

Too hot for soup here in Baltimore.

That's a really good idea. I think half of the things I cook require
mirepoix, so having a stash in the freezer would be nice.

In my world it's never too hot for soup. I love soup. Then again, I
have AC.

Slight thread drift, did you know hot beverages in hot weather tend to
cool you off?

It's here! Record high temps today. We were amazed to see how many
vehicles have no AC. Took us far longer to get our shopping done today than
normal. Didn't think we'd ever get out of the line at the pharmacy. Seems
all of the regular staff was on vacation. Come to think of it, didn't
recognize any of the cashiers at Target or Costco either.

I didn't cook a thing. Made mac and cheese yesterday. The boxed kind.
Angela had that and coleslaw for dinner. Husband had pizza slices from
Albertsons. They were B1G1F. I haven't eaten yet. Will have a turkey
sandwich. Really wanted a bean burrito but will wait until later. Perhaps
it will have cooled off by then.

Yes, just a little... I finally got to Honey Baked a few weeks ago and
bought one of their "ham bones", which I divided into three parts for
the freezer and I only used half of one package today.

My grandfather used to say that, but I've never felt the difference
when I've tried it.

It's a holiday week, everyone is away on vacation or home on
staycation.

Well as Micky Spllane splained it one time.."I woke up in the morning with a bad old hang over..and with the sun splattering through the venetian blinds like split pea soup through a two year old." lol.

Very good stuff Myrtle. How many pork hocks did you use?
