We had some discussion about driving, cruise control, etc; This was
posted on another group Awesome car ads are not uncommon, but awesome car ads that demonstrate safety features?well, those don't pop up every day. Hyundai has released just such a spot that might just live up to our lofty standards of awesometude. The two-minute video, which was put on YouTube by TestDriven, is called the "The Empty Car Convoy" [?] Read Mo http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/caran...3/Yb7jH5yUcQY/ |

The thought of driverless cars scares the crap out of me. It's nice and tidy when they're all in a row like that. No other traffic. No actual idiot drivers to deal with. A couple of years ago I was nearly run off the two lane road that is (Hwy 21). John and I were on our way home from Publix. The driver in the car behind us was likely cranked up on something. They were tailgating and I was already going (legally) 50 MPH. I thought they were going to ram right into the back of my car. Or force me off the road. They tried to pass me on the RIGHT, with no shoulder to speak of. I have no idea why they were in such a friggin' hurry. The hospital is in the other direction. Fortunately they peeled off down a side street a few miles before the turn towards home. *That* was freaking scary. Jill |

An aulde idea, O... : http://www.wired.com/2009/11/autonomous-cars/ €œIn the 1950€²s General Motors and RCA teamed up to develop automated highway technology (.pdf) that used a buried wire and magnetic pickup coils on the car. The buried line communicated the speed limit to the vehicle and warned of obstacles ahead. Engineers demonstrated the technology in 1958, using a 1958 Chevrolet Impala and, later, the streamlined turbine powered Firebird III concept car. Even Disney got in on the act with the animated short Magic Highway USA. But GM and RCA couldn't convince the feds to spend the additional $100,000 per mile that automated highway technology would add to the cost of the national highway system...€ -- Best Greg |

It would keep him in the lane and stop him once something is in front. I can see waking up two hundred miles from where you thought you were though. |

My guess is that 7% of the cars will have sex going on in them. My assumption is that it will cause a revolution, just as cars changed the sexual landscape back in the 20s and 30s. I plan on catching some quality nap time. No sex for me in cars. Those days are long gone. Well, maybe just a little. :-) |
