Default Beans!

These baked beans turned out perfectly! I shut off the heat and let them
cool for about 2 hours before putting them in the fridge. The sauce
thickened down to just exactly how I wanted it. Can't wait to eat! I
actually did already eat a couple of bites. But my favorite? Leftover cold
beans on soft white bread with chopped raw white onions on top. Got no
white bread but I might use half of a hot dog bun.

Glad to hear they turned out. I've been thinking about making baked
beans in my crockpot because it seems like the perfect environment.
Thanks for the confirmation.

Well, my nephew and I are the only ones that actually like this recipe.
Husband complained because I didn't give him any but... I know that he
hates them so I am not wasting them on him. They do smell divine while
cooking though.

These use navy or pea beans. They're in a sweet sauce. Not BBQ sauce. I
use a ton of the caramelized onions, some ketchup. a little molasses, a
little Splenda, a little dry mustard. a little salt, lots of chopped cooked
bacon and a ton of coarsely ground black pepper. Bake until the sauce
reduces waaaay down and everything turns very dark. As in just shy of
burning.

Sounds good. Was with the program till we got to Splenda. That stuff is not conducive to good health. Try a touch of Food Grade Veggie glycerine. 2/3 as sweet as sugar..consistency of warm honey..and affects blood glucose levels not a bit. Its also good for your skin. NOW brand is the best.

Amazon.com: now vegetable glycerin: Health & Personal Care

PS..also not a hint of the nasty old after taste which comes from the sugar subs.
