Maybe she has enough of a life that she does not be tethered to an electronic leash all the time. I have a cell phone only because my son let me his old one, and I have what is basically an emergency use plane that gives me 55 minutes a month. That's about 50 minutes more than I use each month. I take it with me if I go out hiking or bicycling in case of emergencies and I need help. I may occasionally call home to ask my wife something, to see if she needs anything while I am out. Sometimes it is handy to have left it turned on so I can call it and listen for the ring to help me find it. After several days of sitting around the house on standby it is often out of juice when I want to take it with me. |

One is flat and about half of the size of the phone. I can put it and my phone into the pocket of my jeans, khakis, or whatever. The other one is even smaller, just lightly larger than a lipstick, but it's better for purse than pocket. We got them at Fry's Electronics. Nellie |

We happen to like the convenience of taking our phones with us - and contrary to what Dave seems to think, neither one of us has a phone glued to our ear. My plan is monthly because I want the data, hubby's is $75 a year. Even paying for two cell separate phone lines, we are save substantially over what we used to pay for one landlocked landline. Sorry you don't have cell phone reception, but I do and I like my cell phone. The bottom line is you don't have one because you don't have decent reception at your house. -- All you need is love. I buy the magazines. I didn't used to. I don't buy them because I am interested. But I noticed that Angela was reading them. She hates to read. So I figured that anything she would read was good. I do flip through them. Mainly look at the pictures but don't know who most of the people in the pictures are. I also think all of they bogus reporting is funny. She's pregnant! She's not pregnant! It's twin girls. It's a boy! All the same week, all the same person. |

My parents always bought the National Enquirer and for a time my dad bought some British equivalent. National Enquirer is all made up stuff but the British one was even more bizarre. They enjoyed reading that stuff. I don't get it. Yes, I know that a lot of stuff in the celebrity magazines isn't true but there's never stuff like dog mating with lion. |

Yes, we send texts and images too. We use Skype too of course. I don't think Whatsapp is available for the iPhone so I don't know about that. I am wondering why you need an app to make a shopping list. I have something on the 'home screen', 'notes' I use it not only for shopping but to remind myself of all sorts of stuff i.e., books or movies people recommend, something I want to look up online, also a To Do list. but since it isn't an app it doesn't drain the battery. When I first got my phone I went nuts with apps just because some were such a novelty and so much fun. I have since dumped most of them. Nellie |

Your parents had discriminating tastes. I used to have Weekly World News in my waiting room. They would have fantastic articles that the other rags wouldn't touch with a 10-foot Lindsay Lohan. http://weeklyworldnews.com/headlines...-to-the-devil/ |

The only thing > that bothers me is the lack of a swappable battery. > As it goes, it's not too difficult to change the battery in the Nexus 5. The main difference from other phones is that the battery has adhesive strips on both sides and uses a couple of flex connectors. The adhesive strips contributes greatly to the solid feel of the phone. That's rather clever - using the battery as a structural member. The back cover itself is rather flimsy but this construction makes casual battery swapping not practical. |

The make/model details I need are printed on it. I can look it up and see if it works with my phone too. If it doesn't, then I'll be able to figure out if there's a equivalent that does work with my phone. I would love to have a better battery that isn't so thick it needs a new back cover. -- I take life with a grain of salt, a slice of lemon and a shot of tequila |

Back in the day, I read on usenet (rfc) that midnight shopping was a breeze, so I tried it once. I had never been in a longer line than the one I was in at midnight and all the open aisles were equally impacted so I had no choice. I was in line for 45 minutes! That experience not only cured me of late night grocery shopping, I learned to take claims like that (from strangers on the internet) with a very large grain of salt. -- I take life with a grain of salt, a slice of lemon and a shot of tequila |

When I first got my phone I went nuts with apps just because some were such a novelty and so much fun. I have since dumped most of them. Sure, I can make a list with an app that came on my phone - but I'm confined to my phone if I use it. With this one, I can add to the list via my tablet and my computer too (whichever device is handiest) and they all sync up. I love that feature! -- I take life with a grain of salt, a slice of lemon and a shot of tequila |
