Default A War Cake Recipe

No butter or eggs, and half as much sugar as flour.

Ingredients

1 lb. Raisins
2 Cups Boiling Water
1 Tbsp. Baking Soda
1/2 Cup Shortening
1 Cup Cold water
4 Cup Flour
2 Cup Sugar
1 Tsp . Salt
1/2 Tsp. Cloves
2 Tsp . Cinnamon
1 Tsp . Nutmeg
1 Cup Walnuts, chopped

Method

Simmer the raisins and the boiling water for 15 minutes.
Add the rest of the ingredients.
Bake in a bundt pan, at 325 degrees, for about 1 hour, or until well browned.
Let Cool, before slicing

I had to read it twice to notice it was eggless, because I wondered
why all that water the first time I read it.
