Now I have a craving and there's nothing I can do about it. I want
hamburger gravy over mashed potatoes. Wah! Got no hamburger that would
work. Only taco seasoned and patties. Guess I will buy some and make it on
Sat. since I still have some of my hominy casserole. It got waaay better
after sitting in the fridge for a couple of days.

Actually, the patties could very easily work, crumble them up.

I have a freezer load of hamburger patties. I am not a huge burger
eater so I defrost one when I want something with ground beef in it,
like spaghetti sauce. It works just fine, especially when you are
cooking for one.

I'm pretty sure those are pre-cooked hamburger patties. Not that it
would negate the idea of hamburger gravy but everything else will.

My grandma served mince over mashed. It was depression era food.
Tasty, absolutely. Must add Worcestershire sauce.

Wouldn't work for me. They were fine in the casserole but I like a very
specific texture for my gravy. And the taste would be of because they have
a little bit of a char broiled thing going on, on the outside.

As I told Cheri, I am very particular about the texture of the meat in my
gravy. I don't like chunks. I like it to be very fine. And my patties
have a bit of a char broiled thing going on the outside which is not what I
want in my gravy. I'll probably go to Central Market and get some really
good meat. Our schedule has been changed all around. No longer will we be
taking my mom out to eat on Sat. because they have a planned outing then
where she lives. So I will be cooking tomorrow. And since daughter and
husband are going on their trip soon, I should probably give them some good
meals before they leave. They'll probably be dining out for most of their
meals and I don't think the food there will be to daughter's liking.
There's a lot of Italian places and that's about her least favorite kind of
food.

They are. And while they could be used to make a gravy, I am picky about
how I make mine. I cook the meat and make sure that it is crumbled into
tiny pieces. I also add chopped onion and celery. Then I season it with
salt, pepper and parsley and add enough flour (either Wondra or Sweet Rice)
to coat. Then I slowly add in beef broth. My mom made hers with milk.

Mine won't have that. I can't have it because it has fish. I bought HP
sauce because I read it is the next closest thing but I don't care for the
flavor.

But they have a char on the outside so the flavor isn't the same. Nor would
the texture be because I crumble as it cooks. Not after. I like it very
fine as for Carne Molida (taco meat).

Why would my being home alone make me post more? More likely it will be
less as I will only be cooking for me. I will start with a big pot of pinto
beans and go from there.

If I had to eat the frozen patty, I would eat it as a patty with mashed on
the side. Not the same thing. If it had been a patty that I cooked myself,
I might try it as my patties are plain. I just don't want the char taste in
my gravy and I only use those patties when I need a quick meal and have
nothing else in the form protein to eat.

I got chicken, steak and ground beef today. From Central Market. They have
the best meat around. No cooking today. I got Angela and egg salad
croissant and a hummus and raw veggie cup. Puke on rice for husband.
That's what we call it because it looks like that. Some kind of curry
thing. I'll try to finish off my hominy.

Thankfully my mom changed her plans and we are taking her to lunch tomorrow.
Tomorrow is slated to be the hottest day in the coming 10 days. And she has
AC. So I may have to wait till Sun. to cook. Unless she decides not to go
out for dinner.
