There is one in Glasgow but I haven't been there yet

I was in Oregon in 2005 visiting some friends and they took me to Trillium
for breakfast. I had the most wonderful corned beef hash and poached eggs.
In 2003 I was in Austin and went to a Vietnamese restaurant. The servings
were so plentiful and cheap. I took half of it back to our hotel (Homestead
Suite) and had it for lunch the next day. I really wish I could do that
here.

If you do, take snap of the menu please, it'd be interesting to see how
all you interpret the cuisine over the pond.

Trip Advisor has one in Glasgow called "Al's American Diner".
Apparently a full bar was added recently, so they've changed the name
to Al's Bar & Diner. Unfortunately, reviews are "mixed" at best.
None are by Americans, so I have no idea what an American thinks about
their food/service.
http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restauran..._Scotland.html

Maybe you'll be able to Google a menu. I found
http://www.alsdinerglasgow.co.uk/ via yelp, but I guess they've
changed their url because it didn't work for me. It's odd that they
don't have a working website, but I found a phone number via Urban
Spoon. Maybe that has changed too, but this is what I found
Als American Dinner
(0141) 258 2503

NY American Grill Bar http://www.nyamericangrill.co.uk/
had better reviews, not great - better.
http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restauran..._Scotland.html
I would definitely try either their coconut shrimp or crispy calamari
appetizer. Portions are huge over here, so Americans usually share an
appetizer or order one as their main. I'll show you an example of
what I mean. This is an appetizer plate of fried calamari and
artichokes - we'd already eaten part of it! $12

In any case, one of the Al's reviewers mentioned two more American
style restaurants in Glasgow (TriBeCa and Charlie Rocks) + down at the
bottom of the page are other American style restaurants (Google will
probably find even more for you). I'd check out some reviews first
and pick one that is better liked by the locals than Al's is though.

Ahhh that must be it! I hadn't noticed the 'Al' bit. I have only seen it
driving past and have never stopped to see

That has put me off a bit At least they have the right place to the one
I have seen - very near Strathclyde uni. We don't go into Glasgow very
often so when we had reason to go in on Monday, we decided to go and check
it out. The front of it looks very American full of stars etc

I expect we will go anyway and take some pics if I can

Thanks very much for all that help! That is very kind. I am not bothered
about the other restaurants, I was just wanting to try that one because it
was an 'American diner'. Anyway, I will report back on Monday all being
well

Thanks again

starts, "all our chicken is halal", :-)

and the "Broadway Breakfast"
looks exactly like a Full Scottish as discussed elsewhere.

Oh, semi-famous comic strip from Glasgow back in the day:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bud_Neill

Bud Neill (1911–1970) was a Scottish cartoonist who drew cartoon strips
for a number of Glasgow based newspapers between the 1940s and 1960s.
Following his death, his work has attained cult status with a worldwide
following.

http://www.discoverglasgow.org/statu...ser/4572885054

Quite the surprise to see a Scott drawing a strip about our old west.
