It's quite a walk from Parasol's in the Irish Channel to Bourbon St. down in the Quarter. @Tara- Have you ever read "Confederacy Of Dunces"? D. |

It would be interesting to know what folks from the area think of it. They might hate that book. The intro to the book could be another book in itself and is a testament to a mother's perseverance, which resulted in John Kennedy Toole winning the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction a decade after he was dead. I only read the first part because it's on my iPad which has been missing for nearly a year. Hopefully, I'll find it and finish it off. |

I used to stay at the Prytania Park back in the 80's. It was out of the Quarter, close to St. Charles, between *Uptown and Downtown, and near a number of restaurants like Parasol's and, my favorite NOLA seafood restaurant, Uglesich's. *Uptown had music venues like the Maple Leaf and Tipitina's |

We had a happy weekend on an Ozark creek, a tributary of the Mississippi River unaware of the horror. On the way back, we stopped to get pizza, and heard on the news that rescue efforts were being suspended to focus on preventing looting. Good job, "Brownie." Great reaction to a disaster. Leave innocent, poor, brown skinned Americans to die to protect property. The mayor of Ferguson was a former leader of the Young Republicans.
