I updated my recipe for savory French toast and added sweet French
toast. Yes, I know that the sweet version is definitely ordinary; but the savory version is somewhat unusual. See <http://www.rossde.com/cooking/french_toast.html>. I added a new recipe for oven-fried zucchini sticks. My wife wants me to make this again. We also think we will try the recipe with eggplant. I just saw a recipe on one of the big city newspaper sites for "savory bread pudding". It sounded odd to me, until I read it; it was similar to a recipe for bread dressing or stuffing. Still, it sounded good. I have to say though, that I have never cared much for "chicken and waffles", which is another normally sweet breakfast food prepared in a savory fashion. |

Oh, I love it (cornmeal waffles)! The biggest problem is finding a restaurant with good fried chicken. -- Avoid cutting yourself when slicing vegetables by getting someone else to hold them. |

Lots and lots of low-intensity gravy, with precious little in the way of chicken. Often served as "all you can eat". Like a lot of dishes, I imagine that it might be pretty good if prepared with an eye (or tongue) towards taste rather than profit. |

If you substitute rice flour for part of the AP flour you get a lighter, crisper, waffle. It's all good. |

The chicken and waffles they serve out here on the Left Coast don't come with gravy. We get syrup with our chicken & waffles. I've had fancy house made apple syrup etc, but I still prefer old fashioned Grade A (not B) 100% maple syrup. ![]() -- Avoid cutting yourself when slicing vegetables by getting someone else to hold them. |

Must put a note inside it to remind myself to sub rice flour for some of the wheat! -- Avoid cutting yourself when slicing vegetables by getting someone else to hold them. |
