I don't know how true any of this is, but I though it was interesting enough
to share.

I watched about 5 seconds of it and shut it down; it has all the signs
of one of those "educational" ads that drone on and on for a half an
hour without ever getting to the point.

I'm not sure you mean by it's "part of" dickmorris.com. Is he hosting
the it, or did it just show up as an advertisement?

(I did not expect you to be a Dick Morris fan ;-)

Sorry I missed your previous comment. I just saw the link I posted and
that firearms thing was in it.

We are shooters so it was of interest and knowing there are many shooters
posting here - in USA, I decided to post it.

Tell me something about Dick Morris?

Morris was famously known for his acrimonious split from the Clintons
after being their political and campaign counsel.

http://www.wnd.com/2003/06/19262/

Bill Clinton’s former adviser Dick Morris claims the ex-president
physically assaulted him and was prepared to throw a punch before
Hillary Clinton intervened during a confrontation in the Arkansas
governor’s mansion in May 1990.

“Bill ran after me, tackled me, threw me to the floor of the kitchen in
the mansion and cocked his fist back to punch me,” Morris says in an
open letter to Mrs. Clinton published by National Review Online.

Dick Morris
Morris wrote the letter to challenge Mrs. Clinton’s contention in her
book “Living History” that he was reluctant to assist the Clintons in
the congressional election of 1994 because of difficulties working with
their staff.

The real reason for his reluctance, Morris says, is “that Bill Clinton
had tried to beat me up in May of 1990 as he, you, [campaign staffer]
Gloria Cabe, and I were together in the Arkansas governor’s mansion.”

Morris tells Mrs. Clinton, “At the time, Bill was worried that he was
falling behind his Democratic primary opponent and verbally assaulted me
for not giving his campaign the time he felt it deserved. Offended by
his harsh tone, I turned and stalked out of the room.”

That’s when the governor tackled him from behind and prepared to punch
him, Morris says.

“You grabbed his arm,” he writes to Mrs. Clinton, “and, yelling at him
to stop and get control of himself, pulled him off me. Then you walked
me around the grounds of the mansion in the minutes after, with your arm
around me, saying, ‘He only does that to people he loves.’”

Morris says he continued to work for the governor until the 1990
election out of a sense of responsibility, but “our relationship was
never close and never the same.”

Richard S. "Dick" Morris (born November 28, 1948) is an American
political author and commentator who previously worked as a pollster,
political campaign consultant, and general political
consultant.[1][2][3][4][5][6]

A friend and advisor to Bill Clinton during his time as Governor of
Arkansas, Morris became a political adviser to the White House after
Clinton was elected president in 1992. Morris encouraged Clinton to
pursue third way policies of triangulation that combined traditional
Republican and Democratic proposals, rhetoric, and issues so as to
achieve maximum political gain and popularity. He worked as a Republican
strategist before joining the Clinton administration, where he helped
Clinton recover from the 1994 midterm elections by advising the
President to adopt more moderate policies.[7] The president consulted
Morris in secret beginning in 1994.[8] Clinton's communications director
George Stephanopoulos has said, "Over the course of the first nine
months of 1995, no single person had more power over the president."[9]
Morris went on to become campaign manager of Bill Clinton's successful
1996 bid for re-election to the office of President. His tenure on that
campaign was cut short two months before the election, when it was
revealed that he had allowed a prostitute to listen in on conversations
with the President.

Morris now writes a weekly column for the New York Post which is carried
nationwide, contributes columns and blogs to both the print and online
versions of The Hill, and has appeared regularly on the Fox News for
political commentary, frequently appearing on The O'Reilly Factor and
Hannity.[10][11] He is also president of Vote.com.[12] More recently,
Morris has emerged as a harsh critic of the Clintons and has written
several books that criticize them, including Rewriting History, a
rebuttal to Senator Hillary Clinton's Living History. Morris said that
he would leave the United States if Hillary Clinton were elected
president in 2008.[13]

Morris was the strategist for Republican Christy Mihos's failed campaign
in the 2010 Massachusetts gubernatorial race[14] and supported Mitt
Romney in 2012, predicting that he would achieve a landslide victory.
Blogger Andrew Sullivan has named an annual award after Morris, given
for "stunningly wrong political, social and cultural predictions."[15]
After the election, Morris did not appear on Fox News for three months,
and the network ultimately opted not to renew his contract.[16]

In terms of how history regards this man, what's your short view?

History will be very good to Bill Clinton. At first, people talk about
the scandals, but after ten years nobody's going to mention that. It'll
be like Harry Truman. Nobody remembers there were scandals. We remember
him for NATO and the Marshall Plan and the Korean War.

Bill Clinton will be seen as the president that solved every major
problem America had at the end of the 20th century: Before he took
office, we had a deficit; after, we had a surplus. Before he took
office, we had soaring crime; after, crime was cut in half. Before he
took office, welfare was going crazy; afterwards, the number of poor
people in this country has dropped significantly, and will continue to
drop. Before, the gap between the rich and the poor was widening; after,
it was narrowing. Before, education was not a federal issue; after, it
is a federal issue, and education standards are higher. Before, America
was protectionist; after, it was free trade. Before, America was
isolationist in terms of many of the global conflicts; after, we accept
the idea that the president has a diplomatic role in resolving all of that.

And I think that this man--If I had told you in 1992 that he would
accomplish the things he accomplished by 2000, you would fall off that
chair.

Currently?

No.

Or at least not in a mainstream sense.

But he has some powerful and critical insights to offer.

Frankly the media clime here is such that no one who espouses anything
but liberal dogma is popular, so make of it what you will.

I imagine it would.

That said, I make the BBC one of my regular resources as well as some of
your UK papers.

You just have to cull and sieve for the nuggets of fact, then reassemble

An assault weapon can fire many bullets (full auto) on a single trigger
pull. Most Americans own rifles that fire only a single bullet per
trigger pull. Most Americans don't own and will never be allowed to
legally own an assault weapon.

Just because an AR-15 externally looks like an M-4/16 doesn't mean it's
an assault weapon.

i don't trust the BBC at all. Not in the past few years anyway and most
newspapers are not much better than comics.

Oh I wish I'd caught that one, so very true.

I believe the term "assault style" applies.

An AR-15 can be a really capable deer rifle in the right hands, even
chambered in .223.

I guess it had to be the same over there then.

I think their reportage is done in greater depth, and I've found good
material in the Guardian also.

That said, who else even has an Africa service that is reliable?

I've learned to put a heavy filter on our VOA material.

I do like Deutsche Welle quite a bit, and Swiss Radio Intl. when the SW
signal allows.

What do you find these days to be your "go to" resources for
international news?

The Sandy Hook killer was able to pump as many as 11 rounds into one kid in
just a few seconds because those rifles have extremely fast actions. So it
might not be full auto but it damn sure can be close to it depending on how
fast you can squeeze your finger.

It still has an incredible amount of power which simply cannot be justified
although some do think they look smashing toting their big toys around in
Walmart. What use does it have other than killing as many people as quickly
as possible?

John Hinckley did the same to Reagan with an ancient technology .22
revolver.

Trigger action is only slighter slower on one of those.

It does?

Which round and chambering?

More witless rhetoric.

You truly are the least reliable resource for ANYTHING here!

Target shooting.

Self defense.

Hunting.

Collectible.

I have found credible news on both, interestingly enough.

Ever read the International Herald Tribune?

http://www.iht.com/

I rather liked them before they went all New York Times.

One I do NOT trust is The Economist - too much anon-penned New World
Order guff from that lot.

That video made the rounds years ago and it's still circulating - so
much for that scare tactic.

Yet it contains verifiable truth.

Doesn't anyone make their own bullets anymore? Dad had a bullet mold
and packed his own shells.

That is one of the other big impacts on shooters, lead for reloading.

Was your Dad using an RCBS press or a Lee Loader?

I think reloading is only a small slice of the shooting segment these
days, but plenty of purists and hunters keep it going.

RCBS is a larger bench mount unit:

The Lee is quite a bit more compact:

I do that. But the lack of .22 rimfire ammo is getting *very* annoying.
I haven't seen any for sale in almost 2 years, and can't reload it.
My target pistol and "squirrel gun" are both .22's.

A very, very, very few, and only in now defunct historic European arms

You're kidding? prices here have steadily risen, but there's never
been a shortage of .22 ammo here in Aus.

Yes, my point being that nobody reloads .22 or .22 mags, because
they're rimfire shells.
