Default Protein to Serve with Pumpkin Tortellini?

I'd like to serve a protein with the below recipe. I'm thinking keep it
simple - just some nice Italian sausage. Any other ideas? Thanks.

Italian sausage sounds really good, the only other thing that comes to
mind is some chicken thigh or breast fillet.

Personally, I think the Italian sausage would be a bit much for this.
You already have a rich, creamy, pumpkin sauce not to mention the
cheese. I'd serve a lightly dressed green salad, and some crusty
bread. If you really feel you need some meat, how about some curls of
prosciutto on the salad, or alongside the bread.

sorry koko, you're kookoo!

Ribeye! Rabbit. Pork belly. Stuffed quail. Gallantine. Anything - meat!

It really depends who you are feeding.

That would be okay, aside from the bread, IMO. It's already carby
enough as it is.

I thought about pork belly too, or some sort of pork at least but then
changed my mind The rabbit would be good, I think any kind of
'light' meat would suit it nicely rather than a red meat like steak.

That would work. When I made the butternut squash ravioli, I just served
salad with pine nuts.

I'd be craving a green salad.

Some sliced ham, perhaps sauteed to warm it.

Porkchops; thin, lean ones. And maybe some steamed broccoli.
