Peanuts are the only "ground nut" I'm aware of in the US. The fact that
they use that term suggests non-US origin and perhaps there are other
types of "ground nut" in other countries.

Peanut oil. Peanuts are groundnuts as opposed to tree nuts.

Something else. I don't think we can get groundnuts in this country. I
think they are from Africa but I could be wrong on that.

Very strange though. Because it would seem that peanuts are also called
groundnuts, yet there is clearly something else too called groundnuts. But
when I look up groundnut oil, all I get is peanut.

Honestly, I don't understand his "joke". "Minced" is a weird work,
harkening back to olden days when they chopped meat finely with two
knives. Do I laugh at it? No, but I could because it's a silly
anachronism.
