It works! Yay.

I have modified my score file to KF all posts over 50 lines. IOW, if
you refuse to trim the previous _________(insert number) ppl quoting
the last _______(insert number) articles, you willl henceforth be
eliminatied from my view.

For ppl using slrn, Xnews, or Pan:

[rec.food.cooking]
Sco: =-9999
Lines: 50

......should do the trick. Works fer me!

Cool! Thunderbird doesn't have that feature.

I KF'd a few people recently for the same reason and it is a whole lot
nicer going through this group. Less wasted time.

I don't feel like I am missing anything but I've never been one of those
people who has to ready every post.

With Agent I just "ignore" and have it set to ignore any replies to
that posting. Then I set my view to "not ignored." The messages are
still there if I decide I want to see it. I only keep messages for 15
days. It is also set to move to "the next unread message." I can
also do an "ignore" on the fly it the subject or poster gets too far
off.

Makes life much easier.

That's the childish part of it IMO, not reading posters at times is just as
simple, and really...who cares if someone killfiles you or not? Myself, I
will scroll to the bottom through lines and lines of text if I care what a
poster is saying, but mostly just skipping after one turn of the mouse
wheel. :-)

If this applies to 50 lines of original posting, then for sure you will eliminate certain ppl. Ha. Darn, you're gonna miss all those sagas from Washington state.

It's worse than that actually. The header section of a post can be 20
lines of text and that's before you get into what it was you were
posting. Wonder if bob's KillFile has enough "intelligence" to be able
to differentiate a header from body text???

Who gives a red rat's ass if it does or doesn't...that is notbob's problem.
If he doesn't want to read long postings then wtf cares?
Let him read the short ones if his time is so precious.

So far.

Only Ophelia has a weird effect on my newsreader. She routinely posts
100+ lines of quotes w/ a single reply line, yet her articles somehow
always list her new lines, but not the quote lines, like all other
articles on rfc. Not sure how she does it --I doubt she knows-- so I
jes KF her on GPs (no offense).

As for me announcing it, so what. I was giving other readers the info
they might use to do the same thing. I don't typically announce
plonks and I'm experienced enough to know when someone posts a good
recipe that may go over 50 lines and I will read it. If I wanted
koko's recipe, I've already got it.

What with all the crap ppl put in their posts and all the non-standard
formatting by GGs and mobile devices, I'm jes happy I'm able to KF by
this one criteria.

I took a slightly different approach. I KFed those who routinely post
those 100 lines of untrimmed crap and then add little or nothing at the
end.

Children KF publically. Real people do not bother to mention it. They
just skip by and go on posting to posts of interest.

Disagree. It's simply a way of expressing disapproval, and encouraging
others to do the same.

It's kinda like the old Gallagher routine, when he'd ride onto the stage
on a tricycle with a car door mounted on it, lean on the door, and do
his monologue.

He suggested giving everyone a suction cup dart gun, to shoot at other
cars whenever they saw the drivers doing something stupid. Then,
whenever a cop saw a car with three or more darts on it, he'd pull it
over and give the driver a ticket for being an asshole.

(Piggybacking)And anyone posting any number of lines of off-topic whining
deserves a spot in my kill file.

As if others can't think for themselves without *encouragement* from a
disgruntled poster. A person can express disapproval with out the plonk
silliness IMO.
