Six inches throws you for a loop? That's different. ;-) Do you not
typically get much snow where you are? If that's the case, I can see
where that amount would be daunting. Take care and be warm.

Me? Heh, I was being a wiseguy. As Ed said, they were
telling us A storm of Historic proportions, batten down the
hatches. Everything closed, nothing going on today.

We got 6 inches of fluff. I'm not complaining, I promise.
It's just funny how wrong they were for my area, even up
in NYC they didn't get much. Philadelphia got a half inch.

No, we don't normally get snow like you do. But this isn't
a big deal.

Thanks. Shoveling's done, hot cocoa consumed. Bread's out of
the oven and cooling.

The DC suburbs where I live got about 2 inches of melting snow but that
was more or less as expected; the snow plows got the street clean by
morning and all I needed to do was brush the snow from my car. I did
push a snow shovel in front of me to my car since I had a morning
medical appointment.

A foot of snow or more is very usual for here, even three feet doesn't
phase me... after all that drama on the news I got a big 2-3 inches,
didn't even start up the tractor to plow, just drove out to the Vet
and got two more fixed, one came home yesterday, one will be picked up
tomorrow. Got three more to trap. Even those little balls of fluff
aren't phased, they're out running about in 9º climbing trees and
catching snowflakes.

Thought you'd laugh; in the paper today, talking about
the Blizzard that Fizzled (here, at least), a reporter
wrote: In places like South Dakota and Minnesota, they have
a term for the weather we wound up with Tuesday: Partly cloudy.

Heh.

I went to the Twin Cities once, in January. Snow seemed to be
a permanent fixture there. One Toroed his way to the street, and the
snow formed a wall.

I think it is always better to over emphasize than under estimate....prepare for
the worst is bestie, I think. Imagine if the weatherman said two inches, and
It was twelve instead.

That would depend iwhether you're dating the weatherman! hehe

When one lives where it ordinarilly snows it's best to be well
prepared at *all* times and not rely on weather reports. I've never
in my life ran out to shop based on any weather report, I'm always
well stocked for any and all occurances, be they weather, power
failures, etc. I can never understand looking in a shopper's cart and
seeing one stinkin' roll of TP... WTF buys TP one roll at a time?!?!?

I have never panic-shopped before a dire forecast, either. I have plenty of food and other supplies,
plus family in a nearby area where I could go if the power were out ... Theirs would likely not be,
and vice versa. No worries.
