Hmmmmm.
http://i59.tinypic.com/140caoi.jpg It would pretty much knock out what I need to spend in February. The "salad" couldn't get any cheesier. Baby Iceburg wedge, really? ![]() For the other things I'd have to go with Appetizer: Shrimp & Crab Cocktail Skip the "salad"! Entree: Steak au Poivre with grilled asparagus and roasted red potatoes I'm not a dessert person but I'd probably try the Berry Cream Brulee. Jill |

For that price, the salad should be something spectacular.
Do the resto profits go to keep your other maintenance fees down? I'd love to see the balance sheet for that development. Maybe you'd better get on the board and see where it all goes. I wonder if someone has managed to find a skimming maneuver. Hint: has the treasurer held that position for a long time? |

Jill ~~~~~~ That's a very expensive meal, but it sounds like a good way to celebrate and use up an allotment that you are required to spend. I love shrimp cocktail, but I would prefer it without the crab. Chefs will sometimes make adjustments. I have never had chicken Wellington, but I really like beef Wellington, so I would like to try that. Cream brulee is my favorite dessert, if it is done correctly. The first time I had it was on a cruise to Alaska. It was served over fresh raspberries and it was "to die for." MaryL |

Must buy so much food each year or you'll get charged for it anyway? Really? And the Valentine dinner sounds like such a rip anyway. $65++ for one nights dinner? WTH is wrong with you Jill to do this each year? And like last year, even not reaching the amount so you even paid for food that you never even got. WTH? Your parents evidently left you enough money to pay for all this nonsense. So you're all comfy but you could sell and get a better deal and have more spendable money. You sound like you're turning old before you're time. |

I love shrimp > cocktail, but I would prefer it without the crab. I have, in the past, posted a recipe for a chilled crustacean cocktail. Shrimp and lobster a nicely spiced tomato based liquid. It wasn't a dip, it was served in parfait glasses and the liquid was intended to be sipped. I'll have to see if I can dig it up. Oh yes. From Jarrett's Restaurant in 2011: Crustacean Cocktail From Jarrett's in Memphis, TN. 1-1/2 c. Mixed citrus juice 2 c. V8 juice splash of olive oil 1 poblano pepper (diced fine) 1 red bell (diced fine) 1/2 Red Onion (diced fine) 1/2 bunch of cilantro (chopped) 1 tsp. ground coriander 1 tsp. cumin 2 seeded and diced jalapenos 1 oz. Sambal Shrimp, shelled & deveined (cooked) Lobster meat, picked free of shells (cooked) Blend the juices, olive oil, Sambal, herbs, spices and vegetables together. Chill well. Portion 4 shrimp and 2 oz. lobster meat into dessert glasses. Pour the liquid over the seafood. Serve chilled. I would imagine you could substitute cooked bay scallops, langostinos, crawfish tail meat, or any other crustacean in this "cocktail". Beats the heck out of plain old shrimp cocktail any day ![]() ***** When I searched for this recipe again I found it reposted in some forum where the moderator doesn't appear to approve of the word "cock" in cocktail! LOLOL Crustacean ****tail Really?! Jill |

I just find their menus amusing. Unlike you, Gary, I don't like eating out. I certainly don't hang out at McD's, although you might be happy to find out (according to TV ads) the Big Mac is back for a dollar fifty. Go buy six of them, why don'tcha? WTH indeed. Do you have any idea how many homes are for sale on Dataw? No, you don't. The house next door to me finally sold last year after being empty for 5 years. That was a fully furnished house with a fancy kitchen with all new appliance upgrades. My neighbor's house has been on the market for two years now and no one is looking at it despite price decreases. Please do tell me again how easy it is to sell a house on Dataw. I'd be interested in your not-so-learned opinion. Jill |

No so with mine. Everything works which is all I ask. But whoever bought this house would need to spend a large chunk of change to make it the way they want. That certainly would cut down on what I could ask for it. Jill |

He is a handyman and quit work about a year after they moved in and spend his days working on the house. By the time he was finished they only thing unchanged were the brick walls. He started with the roof. Then he rebuild the angle stone retaining wall along the driveway. He took it completely apart, cleaned all the stones and cemented them in place. They put in gardens and had a large pond dug. The roof extended over the deck in one corner. He walled it in to make an extra room. He removed the fireplace in the family room and replaced it with a gas fireplace. The old oil furnace was replaced with high efficiency natural gas. They tore out all the carpeting and put in wood flooring, did complete renovations on the bathroom, and the kitchen. He moved stair ways and put in an upstairs laundry room. When they ran out of things to do they put the house up for sale. It took them three years to sell it, and finally ended up buying the buyer's house to facilitate the sale. Last night they gave us a tour of their new place, showed us all the changes they had already made and told us about the other plans they have. Meanwhile, construction will be starting on their new place up north. They hope to have this small house completed and sold by the time their new house is complete. |
