Fresh ones, newly cooked, I mean.
Or frozen ones, for that matter - those taste fine to me. I understand canned ones can taste nasty - but so does canned spaghetti, to me, at least. Lenona. |

I liked kale when I was 3 or 4 but no other veggies except for baked potato we had with kale.

I find nothing bad about frozen vegetables... fresh aren't available all year so frozen is a lot better than none. And most fresh at market are not really very fresh, they were harvested weeks ago. Frozen peas are perfectly fine, they are better than canned and the only time I have fresh are those I grow. I mostly grow these, very prolific and they are eaten pod and all... I like them raw plain, and in a salad. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snap_pea http://www.burpee.com/vegetables/pea...Fcvm7Aod9hwAsQ |

Peas were one of my all time favorites as a child so I had a hard time understanding why my brother hated them too. My parents used to take me to A & W Root Beer in Wichita. I hated the root beer and I hated the ice cream but I loved their burritos. They were deep fried and I shudder now to think of what else might have been in them but there were peas! Does anyone here remember burritos like those? I also remember going to a restaurant somewhere in the south and asking what the vegetable that day was. I was pleased that it was peas but when my plate came with black eyed peas, I was upset. My mom reminded me that I loved them and I did but my tastebuds were set on what the waitress referred to as English peas. Thankfully everyone in this house now loves them. I just wish I could get good, fresh ones more often. Those are few and far between. |

Frozen peas thawed and in a salad are fine. But to cook frozen ones? I'd rather have canned or fresh. |

I used to like Stokely gold tiny party peas, they were super tiny. I think Libby gourmet peas are the same thing but I can't get them here. Where I shop does have Libby gourmet carrots tho.

Most frozen veggies don't need to be cooked, just heated... and some are fine just thawed in salads... those mixed vegetables are excellent marinated, as is frozen broccoli and cauliflower. Those frozen stir fry blends are very good uncooked too, thaw and add a couple handfuls to a tossed salad. Frozen veggies are very handy and are a great time saver, no prepping, no waste... many make a great added topping to a frozen pizza. My only recommendation is to spend the few extra pennies for the national brands, far better quality than the generics. I don't care for frozen corn on the cob but frozen niblets are fine... add to a marinated bean salad. I always keep an assortment of frozen vegtables in the freezer. Frozen brussel sprouts are far better than those nasty old things sold at the local market. |
