Default Cooking for the day after SuperBowl

What are you all cooking today for dinner? heheheh

For NE fans, let me suggest -
- NE clam chowder
- maybe some Boston Baked Beans
- all washed down with a tall glass of ice cold Samuel Adams beer.

For the Seattle fans, let me suggest -
- crow
- a good recipe might be, "4 and 20 blackbirds, baked in a pie."
LOLOL!

Great game and both teams did good and bad. It was a good match up.
I never believed that Seattle would pull off that last minute play and
get to the one yard line.
But then even more unbelievable is that they decided to pass the
football and screwed it up and NE pulled off an interception.

Games like this don't get any better....close call right up the last
seconds.

I defrosted too many chicken wings, so I'm thinking Buffalo wings
again.

I always buy whole bodied chickens when they go on sale, two or
three at a time, and cut them up. The whole chicken always
costs much less than the sum of its parts, and cutting one up
only takes a couple of minutes. I cut the wings into
segments and toss them into the freezer until it reaches critical
mass.

It was a great game, but I would hate to be Pete Carroll today...I could not
believe the pass, reminded me of the stupid calls in the Green Bay Game a
couple of weeks ago, but such is the game. :-)

I wonder who is going to be fired for that bad call?

Are you doing anything with it, like carnitas?

I'm doing chicken with peppers and onions. Not for me. Not my idea of a
good meal. I will likely have either a hot turkey sandwich or turkey with
wild rice. Will have to ponder this and see what sounds good.

I'm sort of thinking taco salad for me or an omelet, and since I have a
couple of buns left, sandwiches and potato salad for dh.

Since the temps dropped from near 50F this morning to 20F tonight, I made chili. Nice warm up after coming home in the cold. Good leftovers for lunch, too.

Both sound good, especially the taco salad.

I saw this on TV last week and thought it looked good, so I made it
today:

http://abc.go.com/shows/the-chew/rec...-clinton-kelly

No lobster with the shrimp - just Italian sausage.

It was OK, but I don't know if I'd make it again.

I love taco salads and have them often. It's a great way to use up leftover
cheese, meat, etc. and it's fun to try different seasonings with the meat.

I'm finding it hard to put the Italian sausage and shrimp together in
my mind. It's one of those things I'd need to try because sometimes a
weird combination like that is delicious, such as cumin in the peach
salsa I posted earlier today.

Ball on the one yard line and time enough for at least 2 plays to just
shove it over straight ahead. Patriots would never dream they would
try a pass so they probably thought that might do it. But the receiver
didn't catch it...a NE player did. Maybe a good gamble but it didn't
work.

Regardless, that was good football...right to the last seconds.
Definitely two good teams matched.

Did I mention that I ate nothing during the game? No special food or
snacks. I had eaten a good lunch hours earlier and I just wasn't
hungry during the game. oh well.

That sounds like a good meal to me, Julie. What seasonings did you
use?

I still don't understand your super selective pickiness.
You are definitely a unique person if all you say is true.
Chicken is milder tasting than turkey and if that bothers you,
I would think that turkey should too.

Apparently not enough. Daughter said it had no flavor. I used salt, garlic
and a very little teriyaki sauce right at the end. I added a lot more
garlic, more sauce and heated through to serve it to husband. He had no
complaints.

It's a psychological thing with chicken after having watched my grandma kill
them. I can do canned chicken only because the texture of it reminds me of
tuna. I don't really like turkey either. Or any meat really. But if I
don't eat meat, I go anemic. The only other meat I can digest pretty much
every single time is ground beef and I know that's not good to eat too much
of. I do also eat bacon on occasion. May or may not stay in me. But I
figure that has more fat than protein.

I opted for the turkey sandwich. Wasn't sure how well I would like it as I
am used to eating that with mashed potatoes and I can no longer have those.
I had peas instead and some raw tomatoes on the side but it wound up being
too much food for me. I'll have another sandwich tomorrow and finish off
the turkey. I only bought a small amount. And I need to use up more of the
bread. I bought honey white bread due to digestion issues. I seem to do
okay with it. But I would prefer to eat the kind that I bake.

Did you ever see any episode of the Ted Nugent reality show several
years ago? I forget the name. He would bring in a group of city people
to his compound and make them kill animals for their protein meals.
It was mildly entertaining to see how people that love meat had a
problem to kill the animal first.

I remember one episode. The contestants were all starving and Ted told
them that they will have a nice chicken dinner that night. All were
happy until Ted's assistant showed up later with a crate of 2-3 live
chickens and told them, "Here's your chicken dinner." hehehh

One woman said, "I'm not going to kill these poor chickens"
Other woman immediately said, "I'll kill them, I'm hungry." And she
chopped off their heads in short order.
