Plastic sucks for cooking stuff. Degrades, becomes >harder and harder to clean as it ages, etc. All dish racks use a plastic drain tray... most folks buy Rubbermaid... they are inexpensive so replacing in 5-10 years is no biggie. Can even buy a no brand generic at the 99¢ store. Were I to use a dish rack I'd have one of all wood, the bamboo ones are nice, and they fold flat for storage... but I drain dishes onto a clean towel, dry with another clean towel and put them away. I don't use enough dishes to need a dish rack, and when I do use a lot dishes I use my dishwasher. I think a dish rack at the side of a sink just wastes valuable prep space. |

I saw a nice Kitchenaid dish rack at Costco for 20 bucks. It was a beautiful, contemporary, design. I was looking at the box and my wife told me that we already have that one. Cool, she was right. It's a damn nice dish rack! Of course, I don't need to look at no stinkin' box to see where it was made.. Obviously, it's gonna be China. Everything is made in China these days. China is a magical place where a company can send money to and not have to deal with the headaches of making widgets themselves. For a little money, they get a finished product ready to fill orders. TPP (Trans-Pacific Partnership) is coming - so be afraid. Be very, very afraid. NAFTA was nothing compared to what this will do to jobs, goods and services. -- A kitchen without a cook is just a room |

I dry all my pots immediately with a towel, I dry everything immediately with a towel, I hate a pile of dishes sitting out for hours... I'm not lazy like you. The bamboo racks are far more functional, they fold flat so are easy to store out of sight, but I don't even want that, I dry everything right away so I need no dish rack. I don't want anyone doing my dishes because if they put them away I'll never find them. |

Initial disappointment aside, I'd like to hear after you used it for a week or so. There are cheap grades of plastic and better, more durable grades. If it works and lasts, maybe not so bad. |

Got a nice "American made" dish rack/drainer for $29.00 CD. http://www.sterilite.com/SelectProdu...25§ ion=5 Works perfectly. Not made in China, this company has been around for 75 years or so. ===== |

I didn't use any of the widgets that came with it, just the dish drainer. No need or room IN my sink for the movable drain. I just wanted a good high quality dish drainer that would last and be easy to clean. Hence my disappoinment with the convoluted plastic base thing. I'd rather have had a stainless grid. It's what I have, so it's gonna last. John Kuthe... --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. http://www.avast.com |

It's as strong as steel (in fact is IS mostly iron) plus it does not rust or tarnish. What material do YOU prefer, Sheldon? In the kitchen? Or do you just shoot down everything to make yourself seem cool? Kinda like Bryan's narcississtic behaviors?
