We just missed the only time in a hundred years
where the date and time are pi.

3.14159

Interesting to no one, but since pie is the subject
of the week, what the heck.

I don't think Sheldon Cooper would approve of this rounding.

I'm "not a big fan of pie" either, but I'm going to buy a Costco apple pie
today.

Yeah, I missed it too.

3/14/15 9:26:54 and a little over 1/2 a second!!

3.1215926535... (one more decimal digit than my old Ti calculator had
Pi saved as a constant!)

The Guiness record is held by a Chinese man who has it down to 67,890

My wife's cousin's boy has memorized it to 100 places. He recited
it last night and at one point I stopped him and told him he was
repeating himself ;-)

I'll make pie crust cookies to go with it. I can't let this
particular Pi Day pass uncelebrated just because I'm doing St
Patrick's Day early.

Yes, I saw that on the news. I also remember my high school algebra teacher
(this takes us back to the dark ages) talking about a state senator who
proposed a law to make pi 3.00 so it would be easier on students. He
obviously was lacking in some brain power.

Looks good. Are strawberries in season there now? I will try to
remember this one when the local berries are in season. Those big
berries available here at this time of year resemble strawberries in
shape only. They lake the texture and flavour of fresh local berries.

I have to ask.... Is the picture what it is supposed to look like. The
recipe calls for 6 cups of berries and saws it makes 8 servings. That
works out to about 3/4 cup of berries per serving. It calls for 1/3 of a
cup of chocolate chips. In the picture there appears to be only a
spoonful of chocolate chips, yet there seems to be as much chocolate
chips as there is strawberries in that bowl.

He wasn't the one lacking brainpower. If he is a lawmaker, he was
elected. It was the people who voted for him who lack the brainpower.

No, fortunately everyone else apparently thought it was hilarious. It did
not even get out of committee. In fact, it did not even get assigned to a
committee.

We have been speaking of the importance of the date to pi, but missed an
even bigger holiday.

Albania celebrates the lunar Spring Day (Albanian: Dita e Verës or Dita
e Luleve) on 14 March, and from 2004 it has been a national holiday. It
is an old pagan practice, particularly popular in the city of Elbasan,
central Albania.

Damn, let's plan on meeting in Albania next year.

It was a great book. You missed the part where they landed on an island
that turned out to be carnivorous. It would be a tough movie to get
into if you came in anywhere after the beginning.

I rather got the idea what to expect before seeing it. The only
WTF movie I remember quitting on was about Noah's ark and there were
ancient rock people helping them. I tried to hang in there but it
was just ludicrous.

That's what I'm thinking, except on the flip flop. My snowdrops are
in bloom and I'm gearing up for the spring.

Don't think there was any allegory about it.... it's just a weird assed
movie ;-)

I guess the movie was confusing for the people who could not read well
enough to understand the book.

!!! Noah's Ark and ancient rock people!!??

I have several movies that are my 'go to' for sleep.

"Pulp Fiction" and the "Kill Bill' movies.

I've tried to watch PF about 4 times before I realised it was like an
anesthetic to me.

So then I used it about another 20 odd times when I was finding it hard to
go to sleep :-)

Samesame for the Kill Bill movies.

I must wrire Tarantino a letter and thank him for the help ;-)

Similar.

Like this.... but these are just little bite sized pies.

pies

Tried looking for a pic of the pie from the cafe we go to, but they don't
have one .... so they are the next best thing :-)

I also make my own sausage rolls as most commercial s'rolls have pepper in
them.

We haven't had much of a summer down here, but we went back to Brisbane
recently for our grand-daughters 1st b'day party and boy!! did we cop it up
there!!

Walked out of the airport and started sweating straight away!!

We were glad to get back home :-) It's a lovely 12.5c outside at the
moment.

Autumn/Fall here looks like it's going to be pretty cool, so I'm going to
start pruning of the fruit trees and vines soon and start prepping the
garlic beds for planting.

Russell Crowe starred. I think I called it quits when the
rock people started helping with the heavy lifting building
the ark. I tried thinking of it as a comedy but I just didn't
get it. Or care to.

Some shows do that to me, even some that I really like. Can't think
of any movies that have that effect but now that they've put
recliners in the movie theaters, all bets are off.

You don't like pepper, I take it.

Nice. Not the same but it reminded me I'm running out of weather
to make stromboli.

Happy first to the granddaughter, that's nice.

This winter wasn't horrible where I live, so I'm hoping the
growing season arrives on time this year, not like last year.

There's always something. Good luck with that, I'll be starting the
seedlings this week.

When you get a nice one, with nice flaky pastry and a filling that's not
all gluggy or bland.... you remember where you got it from and go back
;-)

This was the first time we'd been to this particular cafe that makes
their own pies etc, so we'll certainly be going back again.
I'll try to remember to take a pic of the pie next time.

Unfortunately, it's not that I don't like it (I used to have chilli and
pepper on most things, and loved all spicy food), it's just my
stomachs/body's metabolism/chemical makeup has changed and I can't have
it . Same with anything spicy.

Instantaneous burning of the mouth, tongue and lips, and if I'm silly
enough to swallow it, the pain is bad enough to put me in hospital.
Even small amounts of ginger cause me grief!!

I still love making my curries though. I just can't do the taste test
thing on them while I'm making. So all my curries are now made to my
partners taste :-)
Everyone still loves them, so she's doing a good job as my official
taster:-)

Over here they would be called a calzone :-)

Pizza dough and filling.

Mmmmm, I haven't made calzones in quite some time, I've just been making
pizzas. Might have to knock up a couple of garlic prawn
calzones/stromboli's next time I make some dough.

You should try sausage rolls sometime, with tomato sauce (ketchup) at a
'gathering', they're always a HUGE hit.

You're not kidding there's always something!!

I've got to harvest the wild rocket soonish (it grows on our property
like a weed!!) before the cold really sets in and use it all to make my
rocket pesto, some of the neighbours want me to cull a couple of the
turkey's wandering around the place for a Christmas in July party, some
other people in the village want me to teach them how to 'sex' their
chickens and process their roosters, I'm also running rabbit processing
classes, roasting and blending spices for curry mixes (to sell at the
local markets) for the coming winter, I've got to get my cold smoker up
and running to do garlic, salt, cheese and salmon.... and then I've got
to keep on top of the firewood issue and keep my 5 wood 'stations'
stocked on a rotational basis from the trees I felled, cut and split on
our property.

Ahhhh retirement bliss ;-)

Right? It was so stupid it wasn't even laughable. It probably has
a cult following it was so ridiculous. I wonder what the actors
thought when they saw how it turned out with the cgi.

Ah. That stinks.

Not here. A calzone resembles a folded pizza more than anything.

A stromboli is rolled and otherwise doesn't resemble any calzone
I've had.

Yes, those look like calzone. Not that I eat them anymore,
then tend to be melted cheese bombs and it's not a good thing
for me.

(laugh) On a walk I passed some guy cutting down some tree in
his front yard and I said It's always something. He responded just
like you did.
