We eat out frequently, but rarely eat fast food. When I do cook at home it tends to be something simple. not the type of food I fixed when there were kids at home. Sometimes , a bowl of cereal for dinner will be what we have.. It is just a lot of trouble to fix big meals for two
people.

I've been fixing big meals for two for 30 years. Husband likes
leftovers for his lunch. Thanksgiving is always just the two
of us. Granted, I focus on the basics. Thanksgiving is:
Tossed Salad
Turkey
Stuffing
Sometimes mashed potatoes
Gravy
Cranberry-orange relish
I generally eat the carrots and onions that were in the bottom
of the roasting pan, after draining them of as much fat as I can.

We think it's worth it to cook at home. He makes a big
batch of spaghetti sauce or chili, and we freeze it in
meal-sized portions.

I'll make a gallon or two of soup for myself and eat it
until it's gone.

I like making a big container of soup and putting in the freezer, sometimes I will do that, chicken and noodles, or beef barley mushroom soup. Holidays we usually have family, and /or friends, I cook like crazy for a few days and then we have lots of good LOs.

I eat out rarely but it *IS* often fast food. I just got home with a
killer (to me) dinner for tonight. 2 BK Whoppers (BOGO) and 2 of their
Dutch apple pies. The pies are surprisingly good. It's been several
months since I've gone there so this is a real treat to me.

I didn't buy fries since it will be later before I eat. I'll just fry
up some tater tots when I microwave a burger in about an hour.

We pretty much only go to a Mexican place once a week to take my mom out.
We used to take her out to dinner too but we don't like having to eat out
that often and I was only getting oatmeal at that restaurant. It is just
too hard for me to dine out now. Once in a while we get fast food but if
all those times were added up it would add up to less than once a month. If
I do get anything from a fast food place it is just a hamburger patty or a
side salad. I would really rather not. Daughter has been asking to go to
another Mexican place where we haven't been in some while. We might take my
mom there this week or make an extra restaurant trip at some point.

We ate out a lot more when she was taking a lot of dance classes right
around dinner time. We would use her hour break to go out to eat. But
after they built the new studio, they put in a fridge and microwave for all
to use so we started taking our dinner there. We did try at the old studio
but because of the design of it, there wasn't really a good place to eat
unless perhaps you just had a sandwich.

I vary the amount of what I make, depending on what it is. The other two
really love steak so I make a lot when I do that. Same with chicken breasts
and pot roast. With the roast, I will often save some out to make soup.
And when I do make soup, I usually do make quit a lot but never as much as a
gallon. I usually start getting bored with it after about the third day.
If I make plain white rice I will often make extra because I can always add
it to a soup or something or there is a good chance that someone will eat it
later. I also make a lot of pizza at once. I made 4 of them last night.
One was just for me with my special cheese. But we did have company as
well.

Tonight we are having Mexican food but we are all having different things.
We are sharing the beans and rice. I bought a jar of cheese dip that I
thought my daughter would like but she is refusing to try it so I made the
food court style nachos with it for husband. He also had some cheese and
chicken chimichangas that I had purchased for my daughter, before I found
out that she does not like them. I got her a single serve package of
chicken enchiladas for her from Whole Foods. She doesn't usually like
frozen foods. But these did look good and they are a brand I haven't tried
before. I also have sour cream, guacamole and a lot of raw vegetables.

Some people like the stuff. I never developed a taste for it except for the
Jack In the Box tacos but to be fair, I haven't had one since I was a teen.
And no, they don't taste like tacos. Also love the Taco Bell bean burritos
but there is no Taco Bell that is convenient to me and I can easily recreate
one at home. I also like Taco Time which looks like a fast food place but
they don't refer to it as fast food. Some of what they serve does come on a
real plate. And no it isn't authentic Mexican food but it is good tasting
and fresh.
