The worst time for me was shopping when I had the flu. I could only bring
myself to eat chicken and rice soup, broth or toast. Everything else looked
repulsive to me. I would go there and come home with exactly enough food
for two meals and no more. Then I'd have to repeat the process.

Brutal.

Sad thing is you took flu to a store.

That would be the best time to order in with Amazon and not spread the
virus out.

So far no answer. There are only two legal meds here. I tried one and it
only seemed to make things worse. The Dr. took me off of it because it can
have serious and irreversible side effects. The other makes me super sick
to my stomach so I can't take it. Some people get a pacemaker implanted but
so far the success rate of that isn't very good.

But back to the salad. It was very good but next to impossible to eat. The
addition of the paprika didn't seem to do a thing. The salad reminds me
very much in taste of the pasta salad I usually make. I did very much like
the summer squash and zucchini in there. I don't normally eat them raw. I
will likely make this again using a different pasta shape. I had wondered
how it would eat. You can either pick up the veggies or twirl the pasta but
doing the two at once is next to impossible.

Flu is generally contagious in the first three days. And yes, I was out in
public then because I didn't realize that it was in fact flu. At that point
in time I just had loss of appetite (much more so than usual) and a
migraine. I figured out what it was after it dragged on into the third week
and then some.

Do you also have to be half-naked to buy clothing?

Just go in, read the list, put the stuff in the cart, and check out.
Seems simple.

Boy, that sounds kind of mean. I didn't intend that; it's just that
I'm always amazed by how people are wired up.

That's not very far from the truth.

Yet there are people on rfc who claim to hate grocery shopping and I'm
not one of them. Figure that one out. The other thing is I don't pay
with cash. I have to pay with a credit card or else it's not
purchased. You'd think that would make me an avid Amazon shopper, but
I'm not. I want to go to a brick and mortar store, hold the item in
my hands and look at it before I buy.

> Boy, that sounds kind of mean. I didn't intend that; it's just that

Like I said. I need motivation. The motivation to grocery shop is
hunger. The motivation to shop for clothing or shoes is holes in the
item that needs to be replaced. Over the years I've learned that when
I find something I like: I buy it in every color and I buy two of the
color I like best. Also, I wear separates - so when I buy bottoms I
make sure I buy lots of tops from that store that season, so the
shades can be mixed and matched (I can get dressed in the dark, so to
speak). They might have the same color next season, but the shade
will be enough different that the two seasons won't work together.
With my attitude toward shopping for clothing, you'd think I wear
jeans, but I don't. I grew up and entered the adult world when I
graduated from college and haven't worn them since. My money, my
rules.

Sorry, but shopping while hungry leads to buying things that sound good
but you don't necessarily need or even want. I don't shop without
having eaten a little something first.

I avoid the "demo dollies" at the store because no, I'm not there to
snack. I shop from a list. Of course I vary from the list most times.
Those are the core items I want to buy. I pick up other things not
because I'm hungry. It's because I decide I need something I didn't put
on my list.

Could you BE anymore prejudiced? I don't think it's possible.
Wetbacks, beaners. Illegals. Yeah, right.

Guess what? I work for a very saavy business woman who happens to be
Mexican. She runs a tire/automotive shop. She owns it and has been
running it solo for 12 years. Her husband (who is not Mexican) has a
granite (as in kitchen countertops) business right next door.

Her Mexican brother owns a local construction and cement company. They
are all quite successful and could probably buy and sell you any day of
the week.

They aren't "wetbacks". And gee, I've never once seen them eat beans.
I doubt you've ever met an actual hard working Mexican. Stereotypical
crap is all we ever hear from you. So sorry you don't know more than
1950's Brooklyn and whatever happened to you on that Navy ship.

Uh, no. There was no reason to buy only enough for two meals so you'd
have to repeat the process. While you were at the store you could have
easily bought enough for four or even six meals. But gee, that wouldn't
make any sense. Heh.

Not for me.

Everyone is different. I can't imagine how anyone manages to grocery
shop if they aren't the slightest bit hungry.

I don't mind demo dollies, but I don't stand in line for them either.
I can take or leave their products, but I mainly leave them because
I'm a scratch cook so their prepared products hold zero interest for
me other than a free in-store snack... which usually reinforces why I
don't buy those things. The last time I bought something because they
gave me a free taste was Just Mayo and they converted me because I
bought it again when I ran out.

I can have a meal while shopping... NY stores push samples on
shoppers... soon as I enter there's 2-3 luscious ladies handing me
food, then by the time I've passed the produce, deli, and bakery
sections I've had a good brunch... only thing missing is a pitcher of
mimosas. I shop from a list so I won't forget items I know I need but
that list doesn't prevent me from picking up items I need that I
didn't think to put on my list and items that I don't need but are on
sale at a good price knowing they will eventually get used.

Really? They still do that out in the country of upstate NY without any

Many of our citizens of Texas are of Hispanic origin, he has probably never spent any time at all in Texas, just to drive through it. Dallas is BOOMING, Austin, San Antonio , lets not forget Houston, big cities with lots and lots of business, no one seems to notice what a persons pedigree is. In a few years , the nations population will have Hispanics in the majority. They have done well here and will continue to do so.

Look and see the fastest growing cities and counties in the US, many are in Texas.

Paprika and salad seem like a poor match to me.

Small comfort.

After the fact analysis, but accepted.

That I can believe.

And this is how illness spreads.

It's used on deviled eggs so I could see it in potato salad. I really
couldn't taste it. Then again it might be old.

You don't understand. I was so repulsed by even seeing food that I couldn't
bring myself to buy any more of it. Not that it mattered much because
nobody was eating much anyway.

People don't always shop with a list. I don't. I only have a list if I am
in need of specific things for a recipe or running low on something like
milk. And when I am shopping at a place like Winco, I am in there to look
for the bargains. They don't have ads so I never know what those might be
until I go in there.

I use paprika often on salads, a quick no effort garnish; on tuna
salad and macaroni salad too.

I don't know what kind of store Winco is, they don't seem to have a
weekly sales circular but they have this:

I always food shop with a list. Well, not always true like when I shop
for produce. I only put produce items on my shopping list if it's
stuff I don't always normally buy. But I kep a litle list in my wallet
for shopping at the grocery store. They carry such a cornucopia of
mostly crap I'd never buy anyway that it's always an adverture just to
find where they moves the things I usually buy there to get people to
wander through their store, hoping they will impulse buy a bunch of
crap!

Smart people write down what they *need* as it occurs to them. That way
when they go to the store they have a "list". Might be on a smartphone
app, might be on a piece of paper. It's a way to keep track and not buy
a bunch of stupid stuff you don't need and won't use. Hello!

> I only have a list if I
> am in need of specific things for a recipe or running low on something

Uh, yeah, that's what shopping lists are for. You don't have to shop
every day; I certainly don't. Just write things down as you think of
them and keep the list by your purse. When you're ready to go to the
store, voila! There's your shopping list. Tick off the items as you
put them in your cart.

You may not find this useful but I sure do. I've always shopped for
food this way. I look for store specials first and see if it's
something I have on my list and/or need. I use mfg coupons when it
comes to things like canned beans. Heh.

I can't be bothered to look through all the store ads for specials. I
pretty much only look for sales on soda when I need it. I will look at
Target. But I shop at so many different stores, looking through the ads
would be a career! There are 4 of them within a 2 mile area of my house.
Today we went to Central Market. No list. I knew that I needed cat grass,
bread and tortillas. But I asked Angela about cottage cheese. I will buy
some on Wed. at the business Costco where it is much cheaper. But she has
been eating it daily so I bought enough to get her through till then. She
was also wanting cereal so I told her to buy a box. And I picked up milk
because I knew that what is in the fridge has been open for a while and will
soon go sour if it's not already gone. I also picked up some Indian food
for her and husband for dinner. He wanted Thai food but they had none
today. That's the thing with their prepared food. I never know for sure
what they'll have. Yes, I have food in the fridge but neither of them
wanted what I have.

I doubt that I will have a list when I go to Walmart either. Or Dollar
Tree. I know that I want some more of the canned chili at Dollar Tree. Now
whether or not they'll have it, I do not know. I bought it for me as it has
no corn in it but then Angela tried it and loved it. I will need a small
amount of food from Walmart for the coming week. I never know what all they
will have there and I have only been to the store a few times. So I will go
up and down most of the aisles.

We rarely have a list, but will for a special dinner.

The cupboard (and freezer) is always stocked with a variety of items,
but we also like to look to see what is seasonal or different on that
trip. Makes for more interesting meals.

For the record, I never once even considered sleeping with you. And
you know that. You're the one who somehow got the idea that I was
going to move in with you - and you posted that to RFC just out of the
total blue.

After having met you twice at casual austin.food gatherings 2 or 3
years ago and not giving you any indication that there was any sort of
romantic interest in the least, you somehow twisted that into MY
MOVING IN WITH YOU?

That was just way too Psycho for me. I sat there at stared at the
screen for at least 15 minutes wondering, WTF? That was just way too
spooky. I've met weird, semi-psycho women before but you win, hands
down. Mapi of austin.general still holds the male title, but at least
he announced his psychosis right there lying on the floor of the bar
at B.D. Reilly's rather than romantically obsessing over me for 2
years.

Needless to say, you need to come to terms with what happened and why
your mind works that way and stop making up excuses for your fixation
and disappointment before we become the next Yoli and Michael. I'd
prefer you use a sniper rifle on me from a few hundred yards away.
There you go - a reason for you to buy yet another gun and ammo.

And Jeremy, I was just tired of your decade of bullshit and visions of
grandeur about all these things you're "working on" or have not done
in the past. Even posting a call for meetings with imaginary people
about imaginary projects of yours at "the normal time and place", as
if you are somebody important with a life. I'm pretty sure you're
manic depressive mixed with habitual liar.

Sorry I don't fit either of your Ideal Psycho Pal Profiles.

Common enough. I avoid the odder ones because you get too many
comments. Last time I said widdershins, I got some mighty strange
looks.

Remind me, when did you say you'd be there? Oh, that's right,
you didn’t. lol

An anonymous troll want me to drive to West BFE on his word,
where he says he is going to beat me up.

You're pretty limp there, Boneless.
