No surprise, even the fanciest eateries serve instant and call it
mashed.... some even add a little chopped potato peel.

And it's hardly distinguishable from thorougly mashed and strained for
lumps normally mashed potatoes! What do you want? It's just starch
paste.

Why would you expect them to be served cold? There always was a
dish of hot mashed potatoes on the table at Thanksgiving when I
was a kid. The last time I had Thanksgiving with my in-laws, ditto.

How repulsive is it to criticize others' preferences?

I have never made it through a whole Stallone movie, so, no. Besides, Rocky
was fiction, and since you say the other character was Russian, probably a
piece of propaganda.

Bryan has no sense of empathy, Cindy. That one hallmark symtom of his
probably mental illness which I stgrongly suspect is Narcississtic
Personality Disorder:

http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-c...n/con-20025568

Bryan fits all of the diagnostic criteria to a tee! He won't seek
therapy, because while suffering from the delusions of Narcississtic
Personality Disorder, he has deluded himself into thinking he is
smartyer ands more well informed than any licensed MD psychiatrist,
who IS licenced by the state to pronounce him with an official
diagnosis. I am merely a BSN educated Registered Nurse who has known
Bryan most of our adult lives, a fact which he loves to speciously
defend his fragile ego my threatening me for illegally diagnosing him,
which I have never done.

No, mine is disgnosed (and I agreed after I though about it) Bipolar
Disorder. And I'm on Seroquel for it which I just doubled the dosage I
was taking to 100mg HS and called my doctor, and he agreed to change
my prescrtiption to 100ms Seroquel HS. So I am well managed.

Bryan is not.

That's odd, because you re exhibiting so very man of the same symptoms

Who said they'd be cold? You're automatically thinking of some sort of
cookout/BBQ situation, likely because of what time of year it is.
Still, the OP was not specific as to what *kind* of family gathering.
For all we know he could be thinking of Thanksgiving. Or just an
indoor sit-down dinner.

The assumption seems to be a cookout/BBQ setting, likely based on the
date of the OP's question. It was unclear. Could be Thanksgiving.
Could be an indoor sit-down dinner. <shrug>

Controlled does not mean eliminated. I am much more in control if
myself now that I'm on a correct medication regimen for my Bipolar
Disorder. Does not mean I'm not gonna be a PITA for YOU, means I'm
much more in control of when, how much and if I do it.

Bipolar is part of the fiber of my being. The uncontrolledness and
wild anxiety of it was what I sought and got treatment for.

I'm telling you what you do and how you do it.

Your credentials I've already read and digested, pointless repetition of
them is simply a tune-out at this point.

Yabbut... Sheldon made it sound like they serve instant mashed and then
add chopped potato peels (after the fact). He didn't say they were
serving instant potatoes that contain dehydrated peels. I can't say
I've ever seen that. Then again, I don't eat instant mashed potatoes.
I keep some potato flakes on hand for occasionally thickening a gravy or
soup. I've baked chicken coated with potato flakes. But I don't use
them to make mashed potatoes.
