I am constantly surprised by sophisticated, worldly people who can tell me the latest gossip, where to get a premier manicure and the best hotels, and yet are clueless about mundane things. Janet US |

You're the one who somehow got the idea that I was going to move in with you - and you posted that to RFC just out of the total blue. After having met you twice at casual austin.food gatherings 2 or 3 years ago and not giving you any indication that there was any sort of romantic interest in the least, you somehow twisted that into MY MOVING IN WITH YOU? That was just way too Psycho for me. I sat there at stared at the screen for at least 15 minutes wondering, WTF? That was just way too spooky. I've met weird, semi-psycho women before but you win, hands down. Mapi of austin.general still holds the male title, but at least he announced his psychosis right there lying on the floor of the bar at B.D. Reilly's rather than romantically obsessing over me for 2 years. Needless to say, you need to come to terms with what happened and why your mind works that way and stop making up excuses for your fixation and disappointment before we become the next Yoli and Michael. I'd prefer you use a sniper rifle on me from a few hundred yards away. There you go - a reason for you to buy yet another gun and ammo. And Jeremy, I was just tired of your decade of bullshit and visions of grandeur about all these things you're "working on" or have not done in the past. Even posting a call for meetings with imaginary people about imaginary projects of yours at "the normal time and place", as if you are somebody important with a life. I'm pretty sure you're manic depressive mixed with habitual liar. Sorry I don't fit either of your Ideal Psycho Pal Profiles. -sw |

But I found that segment to be rather silly. Unless I have a plan to use a lot of greens, then it is better for me to buy the bagged. I did buy a whole head of iceberg and of Romaine last week. The Romaine still looks fine but what is left of the iceberg has deteriorated enough to where I will be tossing out what we don't eat for tonight's dinner. When I was a kid, we at a whole head of iceberg every day. My mom just cored it and cut it in 4 wedges. Boom! Salad! I prefer a mix of greens and additional veggies. And these days I don't use much iceberg at all but I do like a little occasionally with Mexican food. I have a tiny microwave. I don't need a bigger one as we mostly use it to reheat things. There is no way I could put a whole butternut squash in there to soften it. And I think they are a PITA to cut up. So when I do buy them, which is only once or twice year, I will buy cut up. As for the onions? I have no issues with cutting them up. I think I have bought the precut only twice. Once, I was headed to my parent's house for a BBQ and my dad called to ask me to buy a sliced onion. So I did. This after we had the onion slicing incident where both parents insisted that I use their new onion holding tool to slice an onion. I told them that it wouldn't work. I had one prior. I think it came as a freebie with some order that I placed. The idea was that it would hold the onion for you and provide slots for you to run the knife through so you'd get even slices. But the reality was that if you tried to use it as directed, it catapulted your onion across the kitchen. My dad soon found this out. This after I had been banned from the kitchen for refusing to use the tool. And then there was an apology and I was told that I could come back and slice the onion any way I wanted to. ![]() as to what went on in their kitchen which is why when asked, I just bought it sliced. Another time, I bought a chopped white onion. I am not sure why now. But it was a mistake! Never again. The flavor and texture of it just wasn't good. I also very rarely buy those cut up veggie mixes. Usually if I am making something that would require those things, I am making enough of it so I can use a whole one of whatever it is. I will buy small amounts of things from the salad bar when I make meatloaf. I do put a lot of onions in mine but other things like spinach take only a small amount. I do like to save money on food. But for me, bottom line isn't just about cheap. I also don't like to create a lot of waste. I would have preferred to buy a small bag of shredded iceberg but I got this order from Amazon and they were out. So I got what they had. |
