Default Mesquite charcoal shortage widespread?

I asked on our local group about apparent shortages. I can think of three
stores by me that have been out of it for weeks. Two of these cater to
volume users but are open to the public. Here it is usually the most available
form of lump charcoal, not molded briquets.

I've never used it but it is available at the local grocery
store, but I *think* it's chips. But don't quote me.

I saw a ton of it somewhere the other day. Lowes? Maybe. But it figures
because we do have a burn ban here. Nobody can use it.

I can't imagine a shortage of mesquite wood - that would be something. Just use Hawaiian kiawe charcoal if you can't find mesquite.

My guess is that it's going to be made in Mexico. Hee hee. I imagine
it's going to be the same thing. It's a popular fuel for cooking in some
commercial eateries. Fer instance, this place where my daughter used to
work:

I don't think the place is there any longer.

Wow.

Did you see how fast his rotisserie was spinning?!?

Dang.

It may have cooked from vorticity as well as heat.

If you go fast enough, you don't need any coals! Personally, I think
just a wire grill would have been better for half chickens but wadda I
know?

Someone in a BBQ group said he didn't use mesquite this weekend
because he had a Hawaiian theme going and was sorry he didn't, so I
was able to recommend that he find Hawaiian kiawe to use. TY
